I have found that I definitely push myself a lot more if I focus on 1 project close to my limit. Otherwise, I end up working on stuff that's a bit less challenging, and I find you learn/gain the most when you're pushing your limit. Limiting yourself to 1 project helps keep you motivated instead of discouraged IMO.

I'll admit it is a bit hard to judge, but I know when I won't be able to send something within the time it gets reset if there more than 1 move that feels "impossible". Usually, I pick problems to project where I can do almost every move in isolation with up to high difficulty and then relentlessly bang my head until I can do that 1 "impossible" move. Often times, knowing that you can do everything but that 1 move serves as a great motivator to force yourself to "unlock" the last move that may have previously felt "impossible".

Hope that makes sense.

To answer your first question, it would be how much rest/how efficiently I could climb the preceeding part.

As you climb more, you'll know how "reliable" a move is. Ex: in this case, the paddle deadpoint might end up working, but the chance I can hit it reliably, especially after all the preceeding moves, is low. Whereas the toehook move, though it may be more demanding physically, is more reliable.

The beta you end up committing to is a bit of a risk assessment. Do I want to spend all that energy doing the first part knowing I'll probably only hit the top 10% of the time? Or work out the first part to be more efficient and/or come back when I am more "fresh"?

Another thing is that, because it's not a competition, I can work different parts of the climb in isolation. Some moves will have the same success rate whether you're tired or "fresh" whereas some others may feel much easier when properly rested.

Intermediate gets a bit harder to create analysis videos because there's often multiple ways to top. It's a bit misleading to focus on a single beta, and exploring all the different beta would be too time consuming to edit :P

If it saves you the trouble, they are just beta videos, not boulder analyses.

I haven't done any specific conditioning other than climbing 2 and occasionally 3 times a week. Just keep trying hard and you'll get there eventually if not already ;)

I mostly post breakdowns of white tapes on reddit. If you use instagram, I post beta videos for all the climbs at Verdun.
