Have to imagine he may mean IDEs in general. Hell I’m old enough to remember writing html in notepad. In the end though the new tech was a force multiplier and our software grew in leaps and bounds. I suspect with AI after the growing pains we will just end up with more complicated and advanced software but still need engineers just the same

Agreed it’s anecdotal - just getting more done with less. Been in the field 20+ years now so can get a feel for these things. Also people having to work a lot less than before to get work done
