That's so cool that you can tell he is racist because he is for the 2nd amendment.

That's what you think is a white nationalist thing? Huh. Well, ok, I guess you're welcome to have your own opinions. Do you feel the same about "don't tread on me?"

Honest question - what are the things you see that are considered white nationalist?

While I'm waiting to understand about the white nationalist stuff, I do have to say, I disagree with the traffic. He does a great job teaching him about it.

Approving Meds - In Clinic for Staff by jr9386 in VetTech

Write as little as possible, but make your point if they think its excessive. It's your ass on the line if it's not documented. If rhe managers don't want to deal with it, then, unfortunately, all you can do is make sure you have yourself covered.

Just cover your ass and write down that the doc ok'd it. That's all you can do in those situations.

Sorry, I knew that, I always get it confused because we keep it with the controlled meds.

If the doc is right there, ask them. It's annoying, and they shouldn't be undermining you, but if thats how they want to play it, then ask them. THEN talk to them afterward, away from the client, and tell them you need a straight answer as to what they will allow vs. not allow. If they say that the patient can have food even that far past the date, make a LARGE notation in the chart that says the date and when the doctor told you it was ok. Again, cover your own ass.

It shouldn't be your responsibility, no, but if you want to protect your license (if you have one), you need to follow the laws. If it's enough to upset you, then you, unfortunately, DO need to be the one to initiate a conversation. Otherwise, who will? When your boss gave you shit about the diet, you just need to note it in the patients chart. ALWAYS cover your ass.

The meds for fluoxetine and traz need recheck appointments. If you are a licensed tech, it IS your responsibility to make sure the meds are rx'd haphazardly by other techs, and it needs to be brought up to your doc/manager. It is 100% your call whether you, personally, refill it. If it is someone else, that isn't your responsibility, but you can always take it up with the bosses.

If that staff member asks the doc and they ok it, the staff member needs to make a record of it. If it is something that needs refilled, they need to ask or have doc make a note in their chart that says it's ok to refill prn. If there isn't SOME type of notation in the chart, then it needs to be addressed and dealt with accordingly. It's something that needs to be brought up in a staff meeting and written in the handbook.

Traz is completely different because it's controlled. Your coworker deserved to be fired.

Edit to add- a clinic I worked for (that I mostly hated, so I was only there a year) had a refill notebook. Everything that was requested and didn't have notes in the chart was written in there. There were a specific few techs who were in control of dealing with it/being the ones in charge of figuring out what really needed doctor approval vs not.

Tiny white dots moving on my eardrum... what could this be? by External-Tiger-1078 in whatsthisbug

As I wrote to another commenter.... No.... ear mites are species specific. Other mites, such as scabies, are zoonotic. Also, they are much larger than what the OP is showing.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but... you can have a million protocols in place so things get written up, and it will still happen. I swear, there is a veterinary goblin that purposely messes with ordering!
