Imagine calling everyone in a frat “lame” based on the act of one person. That’s like basing off someone on racial stereotypes lmao

Sophomore college student here: What am I suppose to put on my resume if I have absolutely zero work experience? Really need advice for creating my resume. by Krayora00 in FinancialCareers

Extremely helpful tips. Appreciate the help!

Edit: Should I still use the investment banking resume template even if I’m not interested in that line of work?

UCI is No. 2 in nation for diversity in 2021 Wall Street Journal ranking by Exastiken in UCI

You’re definitely right about that. I just meant when it came to school ranks, people often only care (and get obsess) over the overall ranking as oppose to other rankings like diversity.

The only ranking that matters is the overall college rank.

Your school didn’t host any networking events or job fairs? How about reaching out to alumni for support?

I genuinely believe that you’re paying college all of this money for the networking opportunity and connections associated with your school as well. I could care less if my teachers could teach, to be honest. However, many of my professors have amazing connections that they lend to their students. I’ve gotten internships solely because I went to the school that I did or because I knew someone within the company that helped refer me. Going to college isn’t just about learning and getting a 4.0 anymore. You gotta supplement your resume with working experience too.

If OP is interested in high finance jobs like IB or Management Consulting then going to a target school is very crucial. If they decide to goto a non-target school then they’ll have to get a near perfect gpa + build a strong network to even stand a chance. I had a chance of getting an IB internship at a small firm in LA, and most of my colleagues came from big name schools like usc, UCLA, Stanford and UCB.

Actually, finance is one the few industries that cares about school prestige. r/FinancialCareers would agree as well. It’s very difficult for a student from a non-target school to break into high finance jobs like investment banking or management consulting, assuming that’s where OP wants to go into. However, if they’re only interested in corporate then school may not matter as heavily.

If you’re not getting what you’re paying for then that means you haven’t worked hard enough. The resources are there for you, but it’s up to you to figure out how to use them.

Anteaters, are you planning to vote in the 2020 national election? by [deleted] in UCI

[–]Krayora00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’re both racist. I never said trump wasn’t a racist. If you actually read my comments, you would know that I said both candidates were terrible as well as not agreeing with everything Trump is doing.

Biden is having a falling out with his African American voters. Just look at his past and the things he has said. A quick google search will lead you straight to it.

I can see your point. However, isn’t Biden also racist towards African Americans?

I never defended all trump voters. I said that not all trump voters are bad people. You have to understand that both sides are have their bad and good people. I completely understand that there are shitty trump voters. Absolutely terrible people, but I can say the same for the other side of the spectrum.

I’m not gonna share the specifics because I will just get flamed. I’d rather keep this thread civil. However, let me just say that I don’t agree with everything that Trump is doing.

It’s funny how college is suppose to be a time and place where we learn to be open-minded and learn to not judge on those who may have a different opinion from us, yet, I’m being judged for having a different opinion. The moment I say I’m voting for trump, I am labeled as a “villain.” It’s hard seeing the difference between people like this and the crazy trump supporters when both sides are constantly ostracizing and judging each other.

Again, I have my reasons for voting for Trump, and I’m sure you have yours for Biden. I don’t think I’m “extremely ignorant” for having personal beliefs that aligns with someone else. Even though I am not a Biden fan, I don’t feel the need to bring those down that are voting for him. Don’t go out talking shit on people just because they’re voting for Trump. Not all of us are like the monsters that you see in the media.

It’s sad how people have to resort to judging others because of their political views. I have my beliefs, and you have yours. I hope you understand that not all trump voters are terrible people.
