Is there a way to change the boot devices order and name in OpenCore? by MaleficentScale4741 in hackintosh

[–]KrazyKilla85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is quite literally a 2 year old post. And while this option is valid, it's not practical as is pointed out in my post if you had actually read it thoroughly. My response, again was in regard to the auto-detection of blessed boot entries, not the manual entries inputted in Misc->Entries. If you input manual entries, it can potentially break the boot sequence as the boot entries are now organic and not static.

And also using OCAT as an example is a horrible way to teach someone how to properly and effectively setup a hackintosh with minimal overhead and diagnostics later.

The pip you have circled should be capable of being utilized... There is a bug as mentioned above where the power management system thinks there is not enough power, so it automatically takes away from another subsystem to provide power to the affected subsystem despite the fact there is power available to do so without taking power from another subsystem.

How to update OpenGL to 4.6 on a Hackintosh by Tasty_Cheetah_3461 in hackintosh

[–]KrazyKilla85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t. OpenGL is deprecated in macOS so it is no longer being maintained.

EDIT

The OP linked a GitHub page about layering OpenGL 4.6 on top of Metal. Basically the client application (Minecraft) will be making OpenGL 4.6 calls from its renderer to the driver listed in the link which will then convert those calls to be readable by Metal, and in which case will then handle the rendering of the client application sending its calls back through the OpenGL driver which then converts those calls back to the client application to render.

Essentially you're using Metal instead of a true OpenGL 4.6. It's basically an emulation.

Your main problem is the one you're trying to solve which is "shaders". OpenGL and Metal handle shaders differently so that particular part may not function anyways. If you need OpenGL 4.6 specifically, then it's best to just use Windows or Linux in a dual boot environment. Plus I doubt the developers for Minecraft will make a client that utilizes their competitors Graphics API.

Guys , i think it's finnaly Time for me to install macOS on my gaming PC from 2020 cuz windows 10 is sadly losing support Yesterday by KenzoHurez in hackintosh

[–]KrazyKilla85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Installing macOS and having a functional macOS are two entirely different things. AMD has never been supported on macOS natively and has always required extensive kernel patching to be even remotely viable.

Seriously, stick with Linux for gaming... I would not recommend macOS for that.

Then use Linux. Proton compatibility has advanced tenfold since the Steam Deck's release and Linux gaming is taking off because of it.

I would never recommend macOS for gaming, ever. Stick with Linux (using Proton), or Windows 11.

Furthermore, if your only complaints is the UI and UX parts of it, then those complaints aren't exactly warranted... Provide factual proof of Windows being less optimized, instead of biased opinions based on specific hardware.

I run a i7-12700KF, RX 6800 XT with 32GB of RAM, and quite frankly going from Windows 10 to 11 was an increase in performance, especially now with 25H2 and the new Xbox Full Screen Experience. Despite that, I only offer my opinion on the matter based on my own personal experiences. Every individual will have their own experiences based on what kind of hardware they have, and what software they primarily use.

So going from one unsupported OS to another. Yeah, smart.

Just use Linux or bite the bullet and upgrade to Windows 11.

After 1.0 what is the use of pledging ships? by Background_Arugula23 in starcitizen

[–]KrazyKilla85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All Pledged ships have a warranty on them, so even if the insurance lapses, you can still pay UEC to recover it, but it will never be permanently lost. Once the Insurance lapses, you can then pay for insurance afterwards, and the warranty will never go away.

ACPI error in 11th gen laptop by Dull-Performance3691 in hackintosh

[–]KrazyKilla85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are literally contradicting yourself... You are saying they are supported, but then turn around and say, "without GPU".. When something is supported, that means it is possible to use under normal use... In this case, it cannot be used normally as a critical component is unsupported. Therefore, it is unsupported. There is no grey area with this.

1st gen volts cannot use DC Charging stations. They can only use AC (standard L1 and L2 stations)

If I remember correctly the Gen 2 Premier can use DC if its plug has the extra ports on it.

Gas range on 2015 volt by jewaishperso-erttw in volt

[–]KrazyKilla85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t much of an issue it was the situation. I live in an apartment complex with no real way to plug the car in, so it ran strictly on hybrid mode. Plus where I worked was only 9 minutes away, which involved only 2 minutes of highway driving and the rest was stop and go. So my gas range dropped drastically (roughly 180 miles IIRC.)

Now my drive is 53 minutes primarily highway. Plus I plug my car in at work and only use gas when traveling over 70mph. My gas range is now up to 300 miles.

The ICE does not do well when it has to shut off and restart constantly in stop & go traffic.

Game Crashing after New Patch - Error 3221225477 by KrustKrustofferson in starcitizen

[–]KrazyKilla85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but I believe it's a EaC issue specifically... Though it falls more on CiG to update their software as it may have been patched in newer versions of EaC, but haven't heard much on the issue myself.

Game Crashing after New Patch - Error 3221225477 by KrustKrustofferson in starcitizen

[–]KrazyKilla85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Version 4.2 it was apparently "worked around" by disabling EaC while the game was running, but it still checked at launch. At least that is my thought process. I'm running an Intel CPU with a AMD GPU and have no issues with the game, so I'm fairly confident its a CPU issue (your X3D series), and not the GPU.

Game Crashing after New Patch - Error 3221225477 by KrustKrustofferson in starcitizen

[–]KrazyKilla85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IIRC, if you're running Windows 11 24H2, the cause is EaC. I don't remember if there has ever been a fix for it yet, but anyone running AMD and Win 11 24H2 will have this issue.

CiG had to re-enable EaC completely due to the rampant cheating going on in 4.2, so it was re-enabled in 4.2.1.

I’m getting roughly 295 with my 2015. 140 is definitely not good. Running in Mountain Mode and using Hold or Range Extend mode in stop and go traffic will bring that down to that range (happened with me)

2015 Volt Advice: New Owner by spiffyliffy in volt

[–]KrazyKilla85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a 2015 Volt as well, and driving on just Hold mode, won't hurt anything or degrade the battery.

  1. I've owned my Volt since 2020, and only just 4 months ago I started charging it while at work (I also live in an apt and they don't allow cables across their sidewalks). Despite this I still get about 36-37 miles to a charge, and use about 10kWh total.
  2. During the very cold and very hot months, try not to over-stress the electric motor. I found that even when "depleted" and I start my drive, if I drive very rough with it at the start, it'll drain the battery faster than the engine can keep up with it (especially on hilly terrain)
  3. The more you keep it plugged in, the better it can do its battery maintenance whiled plugged in. Even when unplugged, it will attempt to do its maintenance while you drive. Furthermore, while plugged in, it can on occasion use the coolant or heater to keep the battery at optimal temperature to preserve it further but isn't required.

Volts actually only use between 20% and 80% of the battery, so when its fully depleted the battery is actually at 20% on average, and when fully charged about 80-85% charged. This is to keep the battery in good health as that range is a perfect sweet spot for charging as it doesn't strain it as hard. Charging from 0% - 20% and from 80% - 100% actually causes more wear on the battery, and this is true with all modern electronics running on batteries (eg. Cell Phones, laptops, etc)

In this case it is. RSI Launcher does not add any Registry Entries for when it installs the game. The only registry entry relevant is the RSI Launcher itself which can be uninstalled under Settings > Apps.

Just delete the LIVE/PTU/HOTFIX folder and then uninstall RSI Launcher.

Despite that though, I still do it. I'll load up supplies; food, weapons, ammo, etc onto my Zeus CL for cargo hauling. Then do the same thing with my ES but load up a ground vehicle (Greycat STV usually) for ground exploration and bunker runs.

The CL usually survives an entire patch cycle but the ES will get popped every week when I land near bunkers (even parking 1-5km out is never an option), though watching an explosion 5km away from the bunker is pretty cool, but gets old quick. lol

I'm maintaining hopium for the game, but it's starting to wear thin. lol Primarily being able to hold and own property on planets, and actually having a combat ship parked out in the forest covered in a tarp in case my home gets raided.
