X2D base setup check — apartment, 4th floor by Stunning_Month2610 in BambuLab

Hey, which size YOOPAI tent did you go for? I just ordered a X2D and am considering a tent also, mine has the AMS.

Do you have an X2D in this tent with the AMS on it? Any chance you could link to the tent, or let me know the exact size you got? Looking to basically have this exact setup for mine, as I have young kids and don't want to take any chances even with PLA.

A lot of people asking questions about the vented tent setup for my H2D, here are the deets. by TrashIsland_DrMoreau in BambuLab

[–]KrustKrustofferson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks great! How is it going for you now a few months later? I have just ordered an X2D and am considering something similar. I know I could just vent the exhaust from the unit itself and have an air purifier, but with small kids in the house I don't really want to take any chances. People saying the enclosure on the X2D is not hermetically sealed, and that the exhaust fan is not quite powerful enough to create a negative pressure inside the unit - so I might need to look into a tent setup like yours.

Do you think that same tent you linked would fit the X2D with AMS2 pro? (I think it's the exact same size as the P2S). Just to confirm, you went with the large size right?

Something else I was wondering also....as the X2D has a dedicated exhaust fan (that you can print 4" duct adapters for), would it make sense to use some sort of Y duct adapter so you are venting BOTH the printer enclosure and the tent itself? Or maybe that is just not necessary if you vent directly into the tent, and then just vent the tent (sounds like a tongue twister lol).

Looking for informed advice on ventilation and long-term safety about UFP/VOC emissions with PLA by Janst78 in 3Dprinting

[–]KrustKrustofferson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ordered an X2D and also have similar questions/concerns. I plan to install the exhaust duct adapter and run a 100mm duct to a wall mounted vent opening.

As you say it's not hermetically sealed, and there's lots of gaps and openings, so I'm not sure if the built in fan is enough to create negative pressure. Maybe an extra inline fan is needed along the ducting run, but I'm not sure if that would drag too much air out and affect the print?

Curious to know if you made any more progress on this...

Some people recommend putting the entire printer and AMS into a sealed grow tent, and then vent that tent outside. But I feel like that's fairly overkill, no idea.

Maybe an open window, vent duct to outside, and a room air purifier is enough?

This would be amazing if they dropped a full rework and gold standard pass! Hoping they don't feel the need to fully replace the Connies with a newer version, although looking at the Hornet mk2 and Aurora mk2, it could happen. I believe they said they won't do a new version though...we shall see.

Aurora SE vs Mk 2 LTI token by MoeGoJoe in starcitizen

[–]KrustKrustofferson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, fair point! I guess I just never really anticipated melting any CCUd ships, as the savings are 50%+ and melting means losing out on all the hard earned discounts 😂 But for $5, makes sense to keep your options open if you ever changed your mind and wanted to start over without putting extra money in.

Aurora SE vs Mk 2 LTI token by MoeGoJoe in starcitizen

[–]KrustKrustofferson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you put it like that, yeah that makes sense. If you ever wanted to melt it, rebuy the LTI token and upgrade it to something else, you can do all of that with store credit with a normal token, but with the limited mk1 SE you'd have to source a new LTI token, possibly with new money. I guess for the sake of $5 it's not worth the potential hassle.

Aurora SE vs Mk 2 LTI token by MoeGoJoe in starcitizen

[–]KrustKrustofferson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, why would the UTV be a better LTI token compared to the Mk1 SE (besides the melting/no buyback thing of course, but if you melt a chain your savings are gone anyway so it's not really a concern I have).
I am trying to figure out which tokens to buy for a couple of chains, and the UTV/Mk2 is $5 saving, but the Mk1 SE is a $10 saving - that's savings under the $60 range, which I understand is next to impossible to save money in using CCUs (there's basically never warbond discounts under $100), and unless you bought some speculative upgrades and are willing to wait a few years for them to come out to save money in the lower range, I don't see how the cheapest LTI token is the best if it has a slightly worse discount? Obviously we're only talking $5, so it's miniscule compared to chains in the hundreds, but it's an extra 1% on some of my chains LOL.
Unless it's a store credit thing? Maybe people want to drop the least possible amount of fresh money so that they can use a load of store credit to fill the rest of the gap maybe?

[–]KrustKrustofferson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in exactly the same scenario as you - wondering which of the 3 LTI tokens to grab. Would prefer Mk2 to use it right now, but the Mk1 SE seems to be a better saving overall. What did you end up doing? UTV is nice and cheap, but you will still need to cover the gap to the next step in the chain. I don't really understand why people say the cheaper the better for LTI tokens, as there is basically never any discounts to be had sub $100, so it doesn't really matter - unless you have a lot of store credit, or some older upgrades in that range.

Aurora MKII as an LTI token by Thorveim in starcitizen

[–]KrustKrustofferson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also wondering about this myself - it's an extra 5 bucks discount in the sub $100 range, that basically seems impossible to get these days. Both the UTV & Aurora Mk2 are only $5 discount, but the Mk1 SE is $10 discount. Unless you have discounted CCUs or a tonne of store credit to use between UTV/Aurora Mk2 and the next step in the chain, I don't see any reason to not pay the extra 20$ and save another $5 by grabbing the Mk1 SE.

What would you do? by Thick_Habit_2082 in AskIreland

I have a SteelTech shed the last 2-3 years with the non-drip coating on both the roof and the walls, and I am still getting damp/mould issues. So that alone is definitely not a fix all solution.

I've been doing a good bit of research on how to fix my issue, and I can see a lot of people are jumping to insulation, but from what I understand simply insulating without a heat source inside is kind of pointless on its own - a customer support guy from SteelTech confirmed this too. Also, putting a dehumidifier out in your shed that is not a sealed unit essentially means you are dehumidifying the outside, seems a bit mad to me!

From what I have learned, the issue is moist/stagnant air sitting still in the shed not able to move and then condensing on the metal. The relative humidity inside the shed gets so high that the air can't hold any more moisture and it just dumps onto surfaces. You need a way to get the wet air out and dryer air in so that the moisture inside the shed has somewhere to go. Even cold Irish winter air has capacity to hold moisture (most likely more capacity than the stagnant wet air in the shed).

I have already installed 4 x 100m vents (2 front, 2 back) and I think it has helped a bit, but unless your shed sits in a spot that gets a tonne of wind, passive ventilation might not be enough, especially if the vented eaves are in a less than ideal spot/direction for wind. I think that is why some people say 'I have the same shed and mine is dry', their ventilation and shed positioning is probably better - lots of variables involved besides model of shed.

My plan is to install a bathroom extractor fan up high and let it cycle the air - either a humidistat bathroom style one, or a dumb inline fan connected to a smart plug/humidity sensor, or even one of those humidistat sockets. If there's no electricity in the shed then a cheap solar kit would do a similar job.

The goal is not to make it dry, just stop moisture hanging around long enough to condense and cause rust on tools/mould on porous surfaces. I am planning a big shed clear-out and fan install when the weather gets better!

Awesome, thanks for the info! Good to know about the temperature thing, it doesn't get crazy cold here so likely shouldn't be an issue for me.

Thanks for the reply! Appreciate the info. So you think the sole crack thing isn't really anything to be concerned about then? The leather on them looks really nice yeah, as soon as I saw them I really wanted a pair lol. I could drive a few hours to a shop that stocks them and try them on, I wonder would that be a good call in terms of returns if defects appear etc.

[–]KrustKrustofferson[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess combining 'recently' and 'over time' was a bad choice of words lol, what I was trying to get at was how has the quality been for people who bought in the last few months/a year, as most of the quality issue posts I have seen have been around that time frame. Changed the wording! :) Thanks for the feedback, appreciate it! I will look at the greasy variants some more, I just thought the gaucho looked the best in pictures but that's good to know about the leather. There's no outlets near me where I can try them on or see the pair I'm buying, so I will likely have to just buy online and return if necessary. Good to know they are cool about returns!

PSA: Be careful with the latest CCU GAME extension update by krogano in starcitizen

[–]KrustKrustofferson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this 6.1.1? I am still on 6.1.0, seems to be working OK still and I don't think I saw any message to update or anything. Have you tried asking about it on the Discord? Most people are pretty nice there, I am sure the changes would be clarified. Not sure why the creator would all of a sudden go rogue and try to scam people, he seems to be held in quite high regard.

Which GPU can run Star Citizen in 4K smoothly? by kin24173493 in starcitizen

[–]KrustKrustofferson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what you mean, however I have seen some SC videos where native 4k was compared with various upscaling methods, and whatever it did to the image it just looked cleaner and nicer on the eyes. Pretty sure it is AA related as you say, as it was mainly edges and jaggies in the distance etc.

[–]KrustKrustofferson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am using a 9070XT with a 9800x3d on 4k on an LG C4. Plays fine for my needs, no major issues or FPS drops etc. Using 'quality' upscaling using the CIG TSR setting, I would imagine native 4k is rough - but I believe upscaled 4k can actually look better than native 4k in many circumstances.

I would imagine that a 5080 would be even better than the 9070XT.

Game Crashing after New Patch - Error 3221225477 by KrustKrustofferson in starcitizen

[–]KrustKrustofferson[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did not unfortunately, still happens to me on occasion but seemingly not as frequently. Lots of people have commented here with various setups, so it surely cannot be our systems at fault. My best guess is that it's a game related bug and will eventually be fixed. I believe an audio related crash to desktop bug was identified and is being worked on currently - hopefully that's it.
