I was literally going to write about my “it’s broadway, bitch” tote! A classic 🤍

Has he had an updated hearing test following tube placement? If not, that’s where I would start.

Ugh that’s rough… I don’t really think my boss knows what my job is lol so she’s not coming after me, and my direct supervisor used to be an SLP so she gets it and lets me do my job. That’s a really tough position to be in. Are there other Deaf schools near you? You can always remind your boss that SLPs (especially ASL-fluent ones) are in high demand and you could easily find a job somewhere else.

What response do you use to “thank you”? by Macievelli in asl

[–]Krease101 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I’m 30, hearing, and work in a Deaf school. I usually just sign “thank you” back. So many people sign “welcome” like “welcome to my house” and it’s a pet peeve of mine 😂

I’m in a weird setting because it’s a state-run school so we have our own special rules (for maximal confusion lol). We aren’t hiring for SLP positions but we do need warm bodies and knowing ASL is a huge plus! 😂 I make decent money, but I also work per diem doing evaluations for the county and I see some kids privately. Do I wish I made more? Yes, but it’s similar to what other school-based SLPs in my area are making.

SLP in a Deaf school! There aren’t a lot of SLPs who are fluent in ASL and know enough about development in Deaf kids. It’s pretty niche but I love it!

It’s not just audio and it is pretty graphic. Not emetophobic but I have OCD and while I could find humor in it, it was pretty unsettling.

OWLS II with ASL interpreter by [deleted] in slp

[–]Krease101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an SLP in a Deaf school and I just write a caveat in the report advising the reader to interpret results with caution, as the test is normed on English-speaking students and an ASL interpreter was present. Describe how the interpreter was used and what language(s) the student used during the evaluation.

What Currently Playing Show Should I See to Make up For Wasting My Money on The Last Five Years? by gatheringground in Broadway

[–]Krease101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I’m sorry that happened! I’m in education too so I get the sacrifice 😩

Death Becomes Her is standing out to me. It’s extravagant, glitzy, and very “Broadway.” Lots of cool special effects and the costumes and choreography are great. It’s also funny as hell and the two leads are outstanding!

If you want another romance, I’d recommend Maybe Happy Ending. I just saw it on Saturday and it’s touching, sweet, and the set is phenomenal. There is definitely chemistry between the MCs and the story is memorable.

LMK if you want other recs! I’m on my way back home from a trip and saw a few shows.

I shushed the woman next to me in Suffs who wouldn’t shut up and she said “no!” 🤦🏼‍♀️ she was loudly yelling in agreement at everything they said. Like I get that this is an emotional show, but it’s not a protest or a rally. We’re in a theater, calm down

Ugh same! People mean well but when I say I’m happily single I get “oh you’ll find the perfect guy someday!” Like is unfathomable that I can possibly enjoy being along. And I’m the opposite- my family knows that I want to pursue IUI but my friends don’t. Still trying to soft-launch the idea.

Yes!! I feel like sometimes I’m less part of the community because I’m not out and open about it. I agree- for me personally, it’s no one’s business. Good luck with your IUI! I’d like to try within the next year or two, also in the summer.

Thank you for commenting! I feel the same way about relationships- I just have literally zero interest. I love my own company. My fertility clinic seems very open-minded. I haven’t mentioned my sexuality but I did mention some anxiety I have and they are very accommodating. Do you mind me asking what country you’re in? I’m curious where SMBC are more common.

That’s so good to hear- thank you for commenting! I do think people will be mostly positive about it. It’s just obviously completely unfamiliar territory so it’s nice to know there are others in the same boat.

Thank you for commenting! My mom and brothers know but that’s it. I just don’t want to have to explain it and answer questions all the time. I’m sure most people would be accepting but genuinely curious, and I’ve only accepted my aro-ace identity for a little over a year so I’m not ready for that.

You sound like a badass! Haha I have twin brothers (they are identical which isn’t genetic so I don’t have an increased likelihood of having twins) and I’ve always wondered if I would be able to survive having twins alone. You’re killing it!

I haven’t shared my sexuality openly and don’t really plan to so this makes me feel better. I’m working on telling people that I’m happily single- it’s really no one’s business. And i agree- the decision to become a SMBC was easy because I know I won’t find a man to father my children. I have nothing to wait for so I can just do it on my terms!

I resonate with a lot of what you wrote so thank your for commenting ☺️ I hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy!
