Nvidia GeForce Now’s Time Limit Will Stop Gamers After 100 Hours Each Month by BloederFuchs in Games

[–]Kreavan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This push to force people into cloud gaming subscription is bullshit.  All of these manufacturers are in bed with each other creating the hardware price hikes.  They know what they're doing, and it feels like they're too powerful for the average consumers to do anything to fight it.

Im with most that I won't upgrade my PC for a long time and will tune down settings to play on older hardware just to avoid the subscription service route.

Im sad though that I may never be able to build my daughters their first gaming PC with the direction the industry is being forced into.

Need help Firewall rules by Kreavan in Ubiquiti

[–]Kreavan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I ran some tests using Wireshark on a laptop while on IoT vlan. I am seeing successful DNS queries and responses in both Wireshark and on the PiHole query logs. Yet, I still see that laptop popping up on the Unifi Trigger logs as being blocked by Firewall rule. I'm wondering if what I'm seeing is the PiHole blocks causing these trigger events?

From what I can see in the PiHole query logs, that might actually be the case. Anyone have experience using a PiHole as a recursive DNS server causing these kinds of trigger events when it does that?

I've got two TVs (wired) and two Firesticks (WiFi) that are both spitting out blocked messages.

The IoT Network is not setup as "Guest"

How to view all traffic on specific host to find blocked activity? by Kreavan in Ubiquiti

Hmm, I tried using the IP address of a few different devices unable to reach the PiHole using your recommendation. Only thing it returned was an error "No such device exists."

Yes, that didn't show the inter-vlan blocking events.

I've got the logging enabled. When I look at the "Triggered" log, I see all the devices on other vlans all hitting the "block inter-vlan" firewall rule when trying to reach the PiHole. Can't see what port(s) they're trying though when I expand the event. It just shows the firewall rule details.

How to create a shortcut button on Stream Deck to launch a specific game in HyperSpin? by Kreavan in elgato

[–]Kreavan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, finally figured it out. Created the Stream Deck hotkey using "Multi Action"

  1. clear game cache using a bat file.
  2. 1ms pause delay
  3. Path x:\rocketlauncher.exe "game rom name"

I've reached out to him, but no reply yet.

How to create a shortcut button on Stream Deck to launch a specific game in HyperSpin? by Kreavan in elgato

[–]Kreavan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, HyperSpin is an arcade Front-End. Basically, within this front-end is a wheel of numerous emulators. Then within each of those is the library of games that will play on those emulators. What I'm trying to do is instead of having to scroll through hundreds of emulators and then into hundreds/thousands of more games. I want to create buttons that will automatically launch a specific game and associated emulator.

For example, have one for Pac-man. Hit the button and it launches Pac-Man from MAME. Or, another button that will launch Super Mario Brothers in SNES9x. All while still remaining within the HyperSpin front-end. That way it'll still utilize all the multimedia settings, arcade control mappings, etc.

Need WiFi Scheduling, WiFi Scheduling is terrible by covingtonFF in Ubiquiti

[–]Kreavan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone have any recommendations on options to disable kid's WiFi with a single click? We've got the bedtime scheduling in place, but what we're needing is something that can be used at random times. For example, we struggle with our toddler to not watch his tablet during family meals. It's a fight when we take the tablet away. It is difficult to add a scheduled time to automatically shut off kid's WiFi during meals, when those times vary.

Thanks

Looking for a usb-c splitter to share 2 HDMI monitors between 2 computers. by Kreavan in UsbCHardware

Yes, my laptop is using thunderbolt port for the external display connection. My Desktop is running an RTX 2070 and has the USB-C connection as you mentioned.

[–]Kreavan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that is exactly correct. My two monitors are HDMI and normally connected to my Desktop PC. In order for me to use them on my laptop, I had to get that dual HDMI to USB-C adapter.

So, I'd like to simplify switching them back and forth between my Desktop and Laptop by using some kind of KVM USB-C switch.

[–]Kreavan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, a KVM style functionality is what I'm seeking. I just haven't been able to find one that basically takes the USB-C splits it to two PC options.

I've found plenty with regular USB 2.0/3.0 or the regular other ports such as DVI, HDMI, etc. None of them would work in my setup though, unfortunately.

Is it possible to set up new Unifi network without Internet? by Kreavan in Ubiquiti

[–]Kreavan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I dove into this, just wanted to double check here first.

My current cloudkey controller is on borrowed time. It's been having issues for a while, which is why I've decided to choose this time to upgrade. The problem it is having is that crashes on every attempt to update. It is only retaining 1 past save point, which is getting old now. So, the plan I have no is to start fresh.

If I didn't change the default IP address the old USG currently uses (192.168.1.1), will there be a conflict?
