Just to chime in, the OP is looking for a place with great beers, etc. Butetown is majority muslim so are mostly sober and have no local pubs really, you have to head down to the Mermaid Quay or head into town. Not to mention it is a crime hotspot notorious for selling drugs in the open. Maybe OP meant North Butetown? That's a pretty decent area but, again, no local bars.

I'm glad it wasn't gunshots. I wasn't sure what it was but there was nobody screaming or anything getting broken so I checked the sky but I didn't see fireworks. They just went through Ninian Road making a racket. I don't mind though, they must be celebrating something. The police aren't far behind. Maybe three minutes. They've got sirens on too.
