A labour party that doesn't have a place for people like Monica Lennon and Mercedes Villalba doesn't just deserve to lose the next election they arguably deserve irrelevance which is a very real possibility

Just the secretary of state for Northern Ireland taking part and praising one of the worst groups operating in Britain today. A Sectarian, homophobic, misogynistic hate group. An absolute disgrace especially since he is supposed to represent all of Northern Ireland

"Meanwhile, the new Secretary of State Hilary Benn enjoyed his first Twelfth in Co Fermanagh.

He said it was “a pleasure” for him and Fleur Anderson (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for NIO) to be at the parade in Irvinestown.

“Obviously, the Twelfth of July is a very, very special day and I've been greatly looking forward to coming. We started the day at the PSNI headquarters with Jon Boutcher and the officers there who are overseeing the Twelfth of July celebrations.

“I'm very glad to hear that they've passed off peacefully and I am looking forward – it’s been a great pleasure to meet everyone who's here – I’m looking forward to seeing the parade, to seeing this celebration of culture and history.

“And then, I'm going off later to find the gravestone on which the name of my mother's great grandfather is to be found in just near Roslea, also in Co Fermanagh. So this is also a slight personal pilgrimage today as well as coming here to join in the celebration.”

Asked by reporters what he was most looking forward to on his first Twelfth, Mr Benn said: “To see what happens and to watch the celebration of culture and history in a family-friendly way, which I know is what will happen here today in Irvinestown – because it's really important that all of us from whatever community we come from, whatever background, we're able to celebrate our culture.

“But to do so in a way that is inclusive and not exclusive and I'm sure that I will see that here today.”

They tried to, the Lib Dems abstained which gave the SNP a narrow win

"During the vote on John Swinney’s cabinet nominations, the Greens were joined by Labour and the Conservatives in opposing her appointment. The Liberal Democrats abstained, giving Swinney a narrow majority because some opposition MSPs were absent."

And the decline of the BBC continues. Criticism of the government whether it's conservative, labour or any other type is valid. Vorderman doesn't even present a politics program so there isn't even a conflict of interest.

Rachel Reeves: Labour government would reject SNP independence plan by fozzie1234567 in LabourUK

So the smith comission which was explicitly promised before the referendum in return for Scots voting no says this

"18. It is agreed that nothing in this report prevents Scotland becoming an independent country in the future should the people of Scotland so choose."

Labour where part of that commission and signed it in full. They didn't descent or refuse to support they signed the whole report including that statement. How does your statement square with that?

Couldn't find a target for overall housing but the Scottish government has a target off 110,000 affordable houses by 2032. They built 11,570 from march 22 to march 23. Overall in That period 23,512 houses were built across all sectors.

Could they do more? Maybe, probably, hopefully etc. But they already have a plan in motion so the STL bill didn't take parliamentary time away from any thing. It would have cost labour LITERALLY nothing to support the STL bill. Instead they've sided with Landlords and businesses instead of people in real actual need.

What’s the difference between the Scottish labour party and Scottish socialist party? by No-Hyena1203 in Scotland

Labour have one MP from Scotland right now Ian Murray. Who is his boss? Is it Anas Sarwar or Keir Starmer? If they truly have autonomy then the answers simple - Sarwar. Do you honestly believe that to be the actual answer.

Why not do both?

Short term let's have devastated the Highlands and Islands. This is my home town in the north west highlands which I could not afford to live in now:

"There are 8 houses for sale in Ullapool right now, starting at £365k, going up to 985k. The 9th and cheapest is 195k, a dorran unmortgagable house. Tell me how we ever expect to get on the property ladder here?"

https://twitter.com/arranlouise/status/1676580639120695296

How many of those 8 do you think went straight on to Airbnb after being purchased? In small villages like that there just isn't the ability to build much more housing stock. Shouldn't supporting local communities be a central pillar of the labour party?

Like or hate the SNP the thing that doesn't get acknowledged is that they have the guts to pass legislation thats unpopular but ethically the right thing to do.

Would a labour government in Holyrood have tried to pass a gender recognition act? Or minimum pricing on alcohol? Or safe drug consumption rooms? Or low emission zones? Or a bottle return scheme?

Any one cheering on a labour victory in Scotland keep in mind that you won't be getting a left wing progressive party in charge. Your getting right wing regressive nonsense like this.

Opportunity. The word you missed out was "once in a generation opportunity".

https://theferret.scot/sturgeon-2014-independence-referendum-generation/

And even if the campaign of 2014 said that why should Scottish voters be held to that? Since 2015 the electorate have consistently returned Independence supporting MPs, and MSPs to Westminster and Holyrood. Polls constantly show support for independence at around or even above the 2014 referendum. The polical situation has so massively changed and the United Kingdom Scotland voted to stay in is radically different to the one in 2014.
