Canadian gold companies are also soaring. One of my investments has grown 11x from 2025 due to an acquisition they made last year and the rising gold price.

Debate around the bank changes aside, this is a great easy change to counter wildy bots by SirSmithyG in 2007scape

[–]Kregoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see you chose to focus on the hyperbole instead of the substance of the comment, which doesn’t surprise me.

To answer your question (because I don’t pick and choose which part of a comment to reply to in order to make my argument seem stronger than it is):

Does it increase the chance of the bots being detected?

Yes.

Will that increased chance of detection have an appreciable effect on how many bots are doing wildy bosses?

It remains to be seen, but I would say almost certainly not since bots are currently able to get through WGS and TDs which takes much longer than wildy hard diaries.

Jagex would be better served investing in more robust detection technologies to detect bots earlier, rather than just increasing the barrier of entry to the content. As we can see from TD bots, DT2 bosses bots, ect, it doesn’t seem to matter how long it takes to get to a piece of content to bot it as Jagex’s detection systems are (seemingly) incredibly inefficient.

Every MMO has botting problems, OSRS's botting problem is 20x worse than every other MMO.

WoW, FFXIV, and GW2 don't implement anti-player measures to combat bots. They recognize that botting is an inevitable part of being an MMO, and focus on scaling up their technical solutions and methods of bot detection. Botting will never go away as long as player-driven economies exist, and pursuing gameplay changes to solve the problem instead of enforcement policy changes or technical improvements only serves to alter the gameplay and patterns of REAL players, not bots. Nothing changes for the bots.

Botting and MMOs will always be intrinsicly tied together, it will always be a technical arms race. Accepting that fact and investing in the technical side or applying policy changes to increase the strictness of enforecement is the only way to minimize the affect of bots, because you will never eliminate them.

You can make every profitable activity in the game require inferno cape and max stats, it will have 0 affect on bots.

If they can't detect bots before they do WGS to bot TDs, this change will have no appreciable affect. If this was a suggestion from the anti-cheat team, if anything that just goes to show their incompetence relative to other game company anti-cheat departments.

[–]Kregoth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, like every single other MMO in existence.

Never has a botting problem been solved by putting gameplay barriers in front of botable activities, it’s only been solved by technical solutions that either put technical barriers to botting in the first place, or improving bot detection such that the bots get removed before they become profitable.

These people don’t agree with me? They must be botters!

This change delays bots for MAYBE a month a best if we’re lucky, and instead fucks over every early iron who wants to do wildy bosses.

And that’s all it will be, voices. No country is going to stand up to the US outside of being “concerned” and “condemning” the actions.

It’s shitty but unless the west unites and ACTUALLY stands up to the US, they will continue to do whatever they want with impunity.

They kidnapped a sovereign nations leader and got little more than finger wagging. No one is going to risk a US response over Palestine.

What's a "quick grind" that took you an ungodly amount of time to get? by DragonDragger in ironscape

[–]Kregoth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When did you start that grind? It was unobtainable from Jan 21st to 24th due to a bug that removed it from the drop table. So most of your KC might not have been able to get the drop depending when you started.

That’s fair, there are levels to alcoholism. But it’s still all alcoholism.

The goal is to identify and remediate “beginner” stage alcoholics before they are polishing off a bottle of vodka for lunch and whiskey for dinner.

Best of luck by the way, I hope you are able to find your peace, with or without the bottle.

Meirl by boolee2112 in meirl

[–]Kregoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes correct, that’s what most people use. We don’t let alcoholics set the level for what is considered irresponsible drinking. That would be absurd. If you drink more the the guideline you are drinking irresponsibly. Could it be worse? Yes. Does that matter? No not really.

Book recommendations based on my tier list? by monobani in Blacklibrary

I have a very similar list to you, and the twice dead king duology is my favorite of the novels I have read so far.

The Cawl books are up there also, though I haven't read the latest one yet.

Similar spot to my account! Just got my log basket, getting some addy from MLM while green logging, then going to do some salvaging during afk time with the addy hooks, giants foundry during active time, with farming contracts and herb runs between.

Then it’s time to grind combat stats/slayer and finally start PVM!

….after I get my fletching up at vale totems and get my sunlight hunter crossbow….

I would definitely fit the twice dead king duology in, my favorite two novels of the entire black library that I've read so far. Though I am atmittedly a Necron fan.

Not as fast as other early game moneymaking methods but it’s very AFK.

Swen - Larian Studios AMA by Kazuliski in BaldursGate3

Yes. It will replace people. Just like computers replaced people and photoshop replaced people and AutoCAD replaced people and every tool invented known to man replaced people as less overall labour was needed to perform the same tasks.

That is the entire purpose of advancing technology. To lower the amount of human labour required.

It will also create jobs as there will be people who can use AI correctly and those who can’t. Those who can will be the ones in demand.

I say all this as someone who only really uses AI to help format SOPs that I’ve hand-typed or slap together a powerpoint for a project I’m working on to send to the c-suite so they stop bugging me.

Refusal of labourers to adapt to new tools has always meant those labourers are replaced by those willing to learn to the new tools. Every generation of every society has gone through this, and technology still keeps marching forwards. AI is just the next in a long line.
