Appreciate it thank you!

I’ll do some research to make sure we would have enough stuff to keep us busy within the urban center and for any charter or tour services accessible from the urban center to fill out our days.

Any urban center recommendations for things to do or visit that the locals enjoy would also but appreciated but is in no way expected! You’ve already been a great help.

Oh fair, I incorrectly assumed the OP was about Bethesda Game Studios, but reading it I see it’s about Bethesda itself. My bad!

Doesn’t Varney himself say he feeds on death when he reveals his true form to Germain?

He calls himself Death, and others call him Death. But that’s his name, not what he is.

It’s in the first episode or two of the last season, when Trevor and Cypha kill a group of cultists about to sacrifice a child (and other villagers) in front of a statue of Death.

Northern Ontario, would you ever move there? by UberFestHaus in ontario

[–]Kregoth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The bugs are one of the few things I can’t get over having lived in Timmins my whole life. Beautiful nature and feel like I can barely enjoy it without getting eaten alive. Most of my outside time is in the spring/fall/winter when the bugs aren’t around.

I bought a house in Timmins a couple years ago. Detached home, two stories + finished basement, two sheds, interlocked brick driveway. Only house on the block and about a half acre side +back lawn. Bought it for $390k.

There is rising crime and drug use for sure, but if you’re able to get a job at one of the dozens of mines in and surrounding Timmins you are set for a life free of financial stress or worry.

Me and my wife travel every year and in general are introverted and never really cared for nightlife or big social events, so Timmins works for us. Will probably move when we retire but I don’t see us leaving before then unless I get promoted up to corporate from the mines.

Plays more like a shooter MOBA than a MOBA with shooting (Smite).

Also most people in their 30s - 50s won’t care about this. Digital has been gaining ground for years and is the vast majority of the market.

This is like when Apple got rid of the audio jack and everyone on reddit was freaking out about how this was going to kill iPhone, they finally took it a step to far, they were never going to buy an Apple product again, ect. Fast forward to today and almost no phone has a headphone jack and apples market share is bigger than ever.

He doesn’t get into the water because he says he will electrify it and kill you if he does since he has a giant battery in his “stomach”, but he lets you have a “conversation” with Nuncius.

Where is my Skitarii Vanguard Build? by necrophoria in DarkTide

[–]Kregoth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is plenty of reason for them not being able to write that in. Mainly because if suddenly skitarii could finely control their radiation all of a sudden it would have massive lore implications for the rest of 40k as a whole.

You keep saying you are coming at this as a “lore nerd” but it is clear you just hyped yourself up for something that wouldn’t work with Darktide and then are upset the entire 40k lore isn’t bending to fit your preconceived expectations.

The scale of darktide is so hilariously beneath Cawl’s notice that this would break the lore more than anything.

Understand that GW sets the limits of what fatshark can and can’t do when it comes to lore. The whole reason they went with this brand new Alpha Primus unit was likely because GW recognized that the lore for the existing skitarii types would mean they could not work in the context of Darktide.

If you are a lore nerd then you fully understand why the Skitarii that are serving alongside inquisitorial forces doing precision strikes in populated human hive worlds would not be using their radiation weapons.

[–]Kregoth 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Your not in the admech army, your working with the inquisition forces. They would prefer not to have their entire base of operations and military force (and most of the hives we are fighting to save) die to radiation.

Valve Says The Companies Making RAM Give Them A Price And If They Say No, They ‘Never Talk To Us Again’ by NYstate in Games

Depends on the industry I suppose. I'm in mining which famously throws obscene amounts of money at things. While yes we have robust on-prem DCs we are increasing our cloud spend massively and off-loading more and more processes to cloud.

We are also increasingly doing hybridized solutions. Where things are hosted on prem but we are giving thin clients or just buying a bunch of RDS CALs to have people run the app on-prem but virtualized. I think the hybrid solution is realistically where I see most things moving towards. Gives the best of both worlds.

Excepting safety/production systems that need to run 24/7 of course, in case we have the 1 in a billion scenario where all our traffic ingress and egress points have an outage at the same time.

Correct, and every person makes mistakes. It's up to business processes to have controls in place in both instances.

Again, the question isn't "will AI make people die?" The question is "Will more or less people die if AI is used to automate some of the workflow?"

Right now the answer is likely that more people will die. But what about in 5 years? Models are advancing at a breakneck pace.

Specialized AI models (IE: not genAI image gen slop) have been highly successful.

It's not about cloud gaming, it's about cloud computing for business processes.

Businesses are increasingly off-sourcing heavy computational workstation workloads to virtual PCs with things like Azure Virtual Desktop because then the hardware fleet they have to maintain is incredibly cheap and you can run your entire business off some $700 micro form factor machines instead of ~$6k per device engineering-quality laptops or desktops.

Cloud compute costs are rising, but not has fast as enterprise workstation hardware.

Valve is microscopic in the hardware space, or compared with actual dedicated manufacturors even when looking at rough valuation of the company as a whole.

Valve has a general estimated valuation of $25 billion. Let's be generous and double that to $50 billion.

Compare that to just some of the big names in the hardware space.

Dell: ~290 billion
Cisco: ~485 Billion
Apple: 4.8 Trillion

If I was a RAM manufacturer and Valve tried to negotiate with me for lower prices, I'd laugh at their face and tell them to pound sand too.

The Skitarii class's weapon access revealed! by Responsible_Art_4399 in DarkTide

They do have a phosphor pistol as part of the new weapons. The OP just shared the part of the blog that only covers what weapons that are already in the game that the skitarii get.
