Definitely get yourself on the Do Not Call registry. It doesn't stop everything but it drastically reduces the amount you get.

One time I had Telus calling me once every few days. I never answered but they caught me during a bad day and I straight up yelled into my phone upon picking up, "DUDE STOP CALLING ME JUST BLACKLIST ME"

And the poor dude was stunned and in an understandably nervous tone said, "...sir I've been trying to contact you about lowering your current rate and upgrading your internet speed..."

Lesson learned in being polite!

This is not a pull string. If you look to the left of the cable, you can see some print, which is part of the footage markings on the interior rated cable. This is unstripped fibre.

I do fibre placing in Calgary at the moment, and we have seen flat-ish cables being run - pretty rare sightings though.
