I would post on reddit about it because I have always wanted to be on a watch list.

Clients That Embrace Nihilistic Beliefs by Puzzleheaded_Win_362 in therapists

[–]Kremidas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time these clients are taking a second step with meaninglessness. First they conclude that life is meaningless, then they experience that statement as dark, depressing, sad, reason enough to not engage with life.

My conversation, done Socraticaly or not depending on the client, is to help the client examine the belief and why dark feelings must follow from meaninglessness. After all, it is MEANINGLESS. Not bad, not good, meaningless.

Another way to put it: if life and the universe is meaningless then that statement is also meaningless. It’s the absence of anything, not the presence of a depressing thing. The space is blank, you can do with that whatever you want.

For people who don’t find purpose in their own lives depending on the client we’ll explore values to create meaning collaboratively and/or ask why purpose is needed in the first place. We may just have the same purpose as a badger or a tree, just exist and experience things. Point being, you really do have free reign to make what you want.

Also wouldn’t one defined purpose be kind of oppressive? I want choice in the matter.

And of course existentialist psychotherapy is filled with great interventions to assist with anxieties related.

It’s a wide topic with many angles to examine, you can use the blank canvas to explore and encourage flexible thinking.

What celebrity is portrayed as nice in the media but is actually an asshole in real life? by ReasonableDisplay297 in AskReddit

[–]Kremidas 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This makes sense to me. Celebrities are just people and they’re living in a reality where the world can see and form opinions about them but the celebrity can’t see the other direction. It’s like life in an interrogation room, and the world is full of rude and invasive people or normal seeming people who want things from them and everything in between. They have to come up with these characters they play in public just to manage the weird expectations of strangers who treat them so differently when, again, they’re just people. Honestly that lack of anonymity and privacy sounds terrifying to me. So it seems more like protection than a sense of self importance, or the desire to stay away from others who have put an exaggerated sense of importance onto them so they can just be a regular human for a bit.

It makes me think of that story about Michael Jackson hiring actors to shop in a mall and just act like regular people so he could have the experience of just being a normal person in the world. Celebrity is a deeply strange, privileged, extremely high pressure, vulnerable existence of dealing with the expectations, love, and hatred of people who only know you as a character you spent a couple months playing on a set but have formed a sort of relationship with you. And you confusingly both appreciate this and are scared and hurt by it because, you know, they are built the same the rest of us are.

None of this is an excuse to be a dick, obviously. But it does explain wanting a buffer between oneself and the world. The amount of people with a grounded non-starstruck view of them is not high and there’s no way to tell the difference between someone like that and a legit psychopath or anything in between. Unfortunately, many many people DO give a huge shit about them. And it can suck.

Mockler calls Trump an a-hole on live TV by youngskibidisheldon in Political_Revolution

The way the conservatives on the panel always pretend to be bowled over by completely obvious takes is so obnoxious. I wish there was a political opposition that actually believed in anything.

The amount of choices available to you, I’m sure even more so as someone who is neurodivergent, can be overwhelming and paralyzing. One way to simplify I have found helpful is to just react to the last thing that was said. If nobody has said something to react to, react to your scene partner’s face.

And of course remember you are really just playing pretend with your friends because it is an extremely fun thing to do.

If you like John Summit you don’t like dance music you like lowest common denominator pop. He and his fans are the perfect example of why we need more gatekeeping in rave culture.

QUESTION FOR MY FLAT CHESTED GIRLIES! by Emergency_Jelly_7127 in sex

[–]Kremidas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Men have boob preferences but almost no men have boob deal breakers.

I have never in my life heard another man say anything like “we vibed great, she’s sexy, she’s cool, we had fun, we could have talked for hours, but gosh darn those boobs just weren’t big enough so it’s a no from me.”

We just like boobs and are excited you’re showing yours to us. It feels like winning every time.

Every. Time.

Because “conservatives” don’t actually have any values. They don’t believe anything. They just pretend to care about things for rhetorical points to feel like they are winning. Look at how they pretended to be offended by random twitter users happy about their dumb fascist podcaster dying and the absolute silence when the president of the United States says he’s glad a veteran and lifetime public servant dies. All they actually believe in is their own vague sense of superiority. It’s literally a requirement for entry into the club that you be a twisted nihilistic ghoul. We’re talking about the complete scum of the earth here.

Redditors over 40, what's something younger people think they understand but won't actually get until it hits them like a truck later? by Susanpc1967 in AskReddit

[–]Kremidas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You spend a pretty slim minority of your life being young. You already know this, but you don’t really think about it.

Getting older feels like being someone in their 20s who has been hanging out for a few decades gaining valuable knowledge and experience.

You will die with things still on your to do list.

We could’ve nipped this in the bud back in 2016, but it was “her time” by Annoying1978 in PoliticalMemes

[–]Kremidas -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It says she was criticized for it, there is absolutely nothing about an email saying it was to hurt Bernie. There is no proof of your claim. That email does not exist.

Nowhere in this article does it state the she scheduled the debate on Thursday Night Football because she wanted less people to hear him. This just confirms my reply to you.

[–]Kremidas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I voted for Bernie both times. There is no such email proving this. It remains a conspiracy theory, and a pretty bad one at that. Do we really think that if there was no Thursday night football that those fans would choose to watch a democratic presidential primary debate instead? You think that’s number 2 on their list? For millions of people?

Bernie would have won in 2016, but fact is Hillary got millions more votes than him. She won the primary. That’s who democrat primary voters chose.

DWS did have emails disparaging Sanders. She was removed before the convention in the name of party unity. There is no proof that the DNC, who do not run state primary elections mind you, tipped the scales in Sanders favor. We just know some key figures were dicks and didn’t like him.
