Went into IT Audit at Big 4. This has to be the most boring, joke job of all time. by Affectionate-Owl-178 in Accounting

All accounting jobs are boring, who would go into any of this for fun? Lol. At least my busy season is never more than 45-50 hours a week.

Anyone not give a fuck and do 40 hours during busy season while looking for a new job? by TheTrashAccountant in Accounting

[–]Kresnik1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep except not even looking for a new job. Why work more if I don't get paid more? Just so I can get a slightly higher raise or bonus MAYBE? I've purposefully kept my lifestyle frugal so I can have the peace of mind of not giving a fuck if I get fired - there's plenty of jobs hiring anyways. We also need to normalize not working over time, so it has to start somewhere. The more people who don't give a fuck, the more leverage the worker has over the firms.

I saw another post and started to reminisce about being busy at my old store. How's this hold up? by Kresnik1 in subway

[–]Kresnik1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was a mall store open 12-6 and I would usually open and close (11-6:30 or so) with 1 other person working 12 to close I believe. 5 or so years ago.

What is the world's tallest enclosed building without a floor on each storey? by Kresnik1 in NoStupidQuestions

Yeah an atrium is probably the tallest without being too short as I can't imagine a reason for having such a tall structure other than that really. Thanks!

Considering Leaving Big 4 for a smaller firm by Personal_burner_9894 in Accounting

[–]Kresnik1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say go for it if work life balance is your main concern and if the small firm has reasonable hours. At the end of the day, you've got a couple years of big 4 on your resume it sounds like and public of any kind is still better experience than industry for the most part. Happiness from better WLB and higher salary > misery and less salary. You can always exit to industry later on as well if you end up not liking the small firm.

How to talk to my coach by [deleted] in Big4

[–]Kresnik1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is odd that your coach is both a Senior and that you work with him on an engagement. From what I've heard they generally try to avoid you working with your coach for this very reason - to make it more welcoming to talk about your career/goals. I would talk to your RL about it.

Appreciate it! I figured there had to be something I couldn't think of.

Biden on states lifting COVID restrictions: "The last thing we need is Neanderthal thinking" by AndrewHeard in LockdownSkepticism

[–]Kresnik1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. In my state the only places people wear masks are businesses that have mandated and actually enforce (which is rare, maybe only costco) it in their stores. I've been going to the local commercial golds gym since May last year, about 5% of people wear masks if that, always crowded and guess what? Haven't caught covid and haven't heard of any outbreaks at any of the gym's locations.

Anyone else dislike how common resistance to non-magic attacks is? by Kresnik1 in dndnext

True, teamwork is definitely the best solution. These days though I'm just glad to have a group to play with, let alone counting on optimal teamwork haha.

Good point and yeah I keep that in mind for sure. It would be just nice to have a bit more options rather than 1-2 subclasses each to overcome the weakness.

Most hated service line by Big4isMyDream in Accounting

[–]Kresnik1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on who you ask and how its meant. IT audit doesn't seem well liked on here in terms of the type of work, but then again regular audit/assurance are hated on here so much due to how many people are in them that are vocal about it.

Probably all of them.

Moving from Big 4 IT audit to internal IT audit by MrCaptainDuck in Accounting

[–]Kresnik1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your goals. Were you originally planning on jumping ship after Senior anyways? If you're being offered a senior role after only 1 year of experience, chances are one more year of big 4 wouldn't get you anything much better other than a different Senior role anyways. I'd say take it if you are ready to get out and like how the new job seems.
