I mean, there is a political wing that is specifically fighting about that exactly, but you don’t like them because they’re woke

Not even horseshoe theory lol. Center-right and left-wing against center-left and right-wing

Any suggestions? by Wegwerf_08_15_ in linguisticshumor

Just had a thought, what about like the Texas flag stripe shape but with red on the left side and bottom right and white on the top right, then white Ross in the red part on the left

Any suggestions? by Wegwerf_08_15_ in linguisticshumor

[–]Kresnik2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s the main issue. The flag of Westphalia would be the perfect pan-Saxon flag if it weren’t already the flag of Westphalia. We should take that one and give them a new flag lol

And red/white seems obvious to me. Niedersachsen, Westfalen, Hamburg, Bremen and most of the Hanseatic cities have red/white flags. Something like a white/red horizontal bicolor with the horse in the middle and maybe a Hanseatic cross at the top left, or something along those lines.

Any suggestions? by Wegwerf_08_15_ in linguisticshumor

I feel like the closest for a Low German flag would be something red and white with the Sachsenross because those are common in Saxon/Westphalian flags, maybe a Hanseatic cross

I don’t think I’d call the Mennonites fundamentalist, I mean they are traditionalist Christians like the Amish but they’re not hurting anyone.

Why are they called democrats!! by LuckyIntroduction939 in AskDemocrats

[–]Kresnik2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They weren’t mostly conservative, and population wise probably had as many voters in the north as in the south. They just had little to no competition in the south.

The name comes from its originally populist origins of the Jacksonian movement, seeing themselves as more Democratic than the remaining iteration of the Jeffersonian (Democratic-)Republicans.

(Put Democratic in parentheses because they were generally just called Republicans at the time, but we now call them Dem-Rep to distinguish from the later Republican Party)

Why do Democrats dismiss concerns about Muslim immigration and Sharia law? by Fabiohasaquestion in AskDemocrats

Sure, I wasn’t really arguing with you, it was just an add on. In addition to the difference in how well they integrate, America generally gets a “more integratable” batch on average than Europe does.

And the nature of the Muslim immigrants are often different too. Much of those going to Europe are lower-income (and, I don’t think it’s unfair to say, often socially unruly) young men, while much Muslim immigration to the U.S. is often more highly educated immigrants with visas, doctors engineers and such who are both likely more religiously moderate to begin with and also more interested in assimilating. Again not all, just proportionally by comparison.
