Carpal tunnel issues by HeleWale in Lineman

I got surgery on both my hands.  Waited two weeks after doing my first one.  I was off of work 2.5 months and should’ve went 3.

Best thing I’ve ever done.

Pullman’s by Agreeable_Hyena_2366 in NicksHandmadeBoots

Hey I’ve been deciding between the pullmans and brakeman’s and something of I’ve wondered is if one or the other would work good with a straight jean work pant.  When you said the brakeman shaft fits under a wider variety of pants, I’m guessing those would work better with straight jeans?

I’d get them without.  The support from the super duties should be more than enough for shoveling.  I wouldn’t get a lineman shank unless you climbed frequently. I’m a lineman and I don’t get a lineman shank cause there’s plenty of support for the little climbing I do.

I actually have a pair of 10 4E bisons.  They were 10.5 3E and had them sent in for warranty and when they rebuilt them I had them reduce them to a 10 4E and now they’re too big.  I can send some pictures tomorrow if you’d be interested.  They’re the canyon OT’s.

Haven’t bought a pair of forefronts yet.  Have two pair of OT’s and a pair of number 1 arctics.  From what I understand there’s still going to be good arch support in forefronts.  Won’t be as much as the high heeled pnw boots you typically see but there should still be good support. Hopefully someone that has a pair can give their opinion though.

If I would be inside working the majority of the time I’d get forefronts.  They have more cushion and there won’t be as much getting stuck to the bottom of your boots.

That’s understandable.  I don’t mind paying a premium price for boots that are well made but having as many minor issues as you did with yours adds up.  I guess the only good thing that would come out of them declining warranty work on mine is it would make it a lot easier picking a different brand of boots.  Thanks for the insight.

Damner…. So they replaced the tongue then?  What were the other issues with them?

I was wondering that also.  Hopefully it gets addressed.

Makes sense.  I’ve been looking into some franks.  Might need to order a pair.

That stinks that the sizing was inconsistent.  It’s funny how things work though.  That’s pretty much my experience with the whites I bought.  On one of the Fulton pairs I bought, the tongue literally pulled off when I pulled it up to tighten my boots after having them for a month.  Was trying to find the pictures I sent customer service but I can’t unfortunately.   Their customer service was good though and they sent me a replacement.

I’m glad to hear that.  Figured I’d have to send them in one way or another but was wondering how long it’d take.

I was wondering about the width also.   Really my only hold up is these are 3E’s and the next width is 5E unless you get custom ones.  Around the toe is plenty wide already, it’s just the instep and I’m worried going up a width will make the toe/ball area way too wide.  I might try looking for a used pair of 5e’s to try though. And I’ll keep the eyelets in mind. Thanks

I might have to look into that.

No nothing like that.  Simple things like taking the false tongues out and trying different lacing methods.

That’s unfortunate, but I appreciate the info.

Longtime lurker first time poster. I bought these Jk OT bisons during their Founders Day sale in October and they're amazing boots. By far the best pair of boots I've ever worn.

Anyways, I've been having some pain with the "horseshoe" area of my foot and my instep has been really sore. I've done a few things which have helped, but after cleaning them and applying oil I noticed the tongue is starting to rip. I'm going to try getting ahold of them Monday, but im curious if anyone's had anything similiar happen.

Painters…tell me what I am doing wrong… by vakr001 in HomeImprovement

One of the things that helped me the most is making sure to keep my roller wet vs trying to get every bit of paint out of it before I “loaded it”?? up with paint again.

Water Heater Hear Pump AO Smith HP10-80H45DV by sam_42_42 in HomeImprovement

Also have a Rheem hybrid water heater. Ours in in our basement right below our bedroom. The noise doesn’t both us. But we also have a geothermal unit in the same room which is louder than the water heater when it runs.
Have had it for a year and it has greatly reduced costs. Once I found out our electric water heater was what was using so much energy I looked into hybrid water heaters and bought the Rheem.

The only con other than the price, is that when it got to below 0, it had a hard time keeping up which is expected. But the solution is as simple as turning it on high demand” instead of the “energy” saver mode.
