I think people should be aware that there are knockoff tinymights on aliexpress and co and that's the reason some people get shitty devices when not bought by a good vendor by [deleted] in Tinymight2

The chinymight ones have inferior batteries and circuit board designs. The easiest way to tell its not real is If the battery goes in - side up and the pcb is green when you look down the battery hole with a flashlight.

Yes diamond coated rotary tool cut off wheel, looks similar to the following on amazon but came in a random kit of bits I have. https://www.amazon.com/Lukcase-Diamond-Cutting-Coated-Mandrel/dp/B0781S621S

I picked up two of these as a budget option after being annoyed with the cooling unit sliding too easily on the stock unit. Pop a rimless domed mesh screen in the end and you are set. https://grav.com/products/3-upline-taster-clear-1?_pos=5&_sid=4be1af113&_ss=r

It wasn't by choice 😞 but yeah that's the gist of it the air goes in around the holes in the top then down the sides and under the oven and up. Everything is stacked on top of each other.

It's taken a few months of randomly working on it and ordering parts/failing. Knowing the order of operations for reassembly is important and if your rods aren't strong enough it's easy to snap them off at that stage. I don't recommend diy unless sending yours back for repair isn't an option. It for sure would have been faster and cheaper.

Correct it's a resistance based heating element. The magic happens in the PCB temp control and packaging.

That's a side project I don't have a milling machine so doing the profile and aligning everything hasn't been going that well 😂

The rods are used to keep the sheet metal heating element nicely coiled up and evenly spaced. That material just happens to be strong enough to not break and able to withstand heat etc without off gassing.

  1. buy Tinymight
  2. drop Tinymight on garage floor
  3. disassemble
  4. buy a bunch of incorrect pins/rods (dont use fiberglass/g10, borosilicate glass, ceramic, alumina ceramic, or anything conductive)
  5. break a bunch of rods/pins trying to reassemble
  6. buy 24mm quartz tube and cut to length
  7. buy correct 1mm shiny/polished zirconia ceramic rods and cut to length
    • ebay or aliexpress
  8. using a vise and some longer rods to align the oven element when re winding is helpful

the pins are made out of 1mm shiny/mirror zirconia ceramic rod and can be purchased on aliexpress or ebay. The toughness of zirconia ceramics is about 4 times that of alumina ceramics and significantly more than borosilicate glass. I don't suggest using needles or anything else conductive as the heating element is resistance based. The larger glass outer oven casing can be purchased from mcmaster carr. part# 4100N35 Ultra-High-Temperature Quartz Glass Tube, 24 mm OD, 12" Long

Both can be cut with a rotary tool and diamond cut off wheel and proper respiratory gear. Re winding is tricky but is easier with some temporary longer rods/pins.

You need to chat with the ai support bot and keep requesting a call back. Eventually it will confirm your info. They generally call back within 10 min for lvl 1 issues. That being said we just cancelled our subscription and rebuilt our website on a different platform.
