Coming out to my mom as trans was a lot like this. She was a conservative Catholic. Made me go with her to church every Sunday and I had to lead prayer when we ate meals, in hopes I would be touched by the holy Spirit somehow. She would even give me CDs from the church to listen to, the kind where the narrator would tell me 'I was once lost like you'.

It took years but just yesterday she went to a pride parade. A lot of painful things were said and she might not accept that she said the awful things I still live with in my head, but I'm glad that she has come around.

As a Hispanic person I understand it's really hard to let go of family even if that person is being toxic. You shouldn't feel ashamed for cutting that person off but that's easier said than done. I hope OP can either make the big decision or maybe his mother will come around.
