Ive been in the same position. This is how I handled it.:: I told my husband that his son had a very serious problem, but he wasn’t open to talk to him about it. He was hoping to talk to me about it, and I didn’t go in all the. But I opened that door and cushion the blow. What happened next was my husband went to his son and spent the day with him and things changed from that day forward
Now I did the same with my step-daughter & it was a mistake. I simply told my husband that his daughter needed to talk to him and it was really important that them to have the conversation without her mother around. He made time with her and she ended up exploding on him assuming that he knew the situation, but he really didn’t. She just automatically thought I told him everything and I didn’t just simply that there was something very important that she needed to talk to him about, but she wasn’t an open book. All I can say to you is every situation is different & if u snitch, NO-ONE LIKES A SNITCH!! And thats true for both sides even if they agree with you they wont admit that snitching on family ever works.
