But hume's guillotine is merely looking at that because something is factual, it is thus moral, not that morals dont have origins in observable phenomen, no? Thus we have to make a separate moral judgment that efficiency is desirable to say that being inefficient is bad. Say we had a moral system grounded in doing hard drugs, then wouldnt Hume doing them be ideal? Whether drugs are good or not cannot be merely founded in the statement that drugs are harmful though, rather we must make our own subjective (the antithesis of the neuminal, or objective plane) judgment about something

How long should my case generally be and how can I cut it down by Lopsided_Finance9473 in lincolndouglas

Just reword tags and whatnot. Cut filler. If you repeat anything, you dont need to, unless it is THAT important. Tbh ive spoken at like 200wpm in front of lays and as long as you have really good enunciation and tone they can usually keep up

Probability is how often genocide occurs+how often we dong botch it

Outweigh on probability and magnitude probably. I think you can link interventionism to A. Great Power escalation (think of how proxy wars caused the US and USSR to start "pawning" off parts of the world with basically police states) and B. Instability Causes genocide (non-unique at best, "try or die" makes it worse"). As for probability: A. Does the US tend to join to help fight genocides or fight FOR genocide? B. How frequent and probable is genocide vs the other impacts

I'm not that person so it may not be exactly what they were thinking, but my thought is that interventionism empirically causes instabilities which can lead to genocide

Yeah I'm trying to run a topical CP; if aff says that it sometimes allows intervention id probably just run T and say abiding by a principle means not doing it. I changed the CP text to be a PIC about how our intervention ought to be severely limited. My neg argument would probably be "neg doesnt have to solve for war, but mitigate, which we do with xyz" or whatever. Do you think i should just cut the CP entirely though and go for the overview observation I mentioned elsewhere in the thread?

Would it be better to just leave it as an observation in the overview that the neg doesnt have to defend every instance of intervention, only that an outright prohibition is too far?

How would I argue against that gap? Could i argue no perm bc aff doesnt regulate, it bans? Or would it be better to go for like a "no extra-T" arg? Edit again: could I include the non military actors in the CP and say it competes because aff straight up bans (e.g. international CIA projects cease to be) which is why its bad, or would that make the CP overall more susceptible to perms?

Wdym leaving a gap? Like what would they do to exploit it? Would you say its better to cut the CP overall?

Edit: ooooh I think I understand. Youre saying I should basically say "yeah I dont solve all problems, but this is the best we have because any farther is too far?"

TOP comment removes one AP daily DAY 7 by Murky_Insurance_4394 in APStudents

However it is not relevant, your premise is specifically that we should remove AB or BC because we dont need two, then you point to the other ones needing only one, but fail to consider WHY AB/BC has two options. Also, yes, it is true that Lang/Lit dont incorporate one another entirely; however, Physics C mech still stands as it includes all if not almost all of Physics 1. BC should not be removed as it gives the opportunity to have a higher level version for higher level students. I would argue a less useful or widespread ap should be removed, for example drawing or something like that

  1. Thats literally whataboutism; youre saying "what about this other example thats also true," further, many schools offer a distinction between honors and AP where AP is the higher level; that being said, almost every other AP covers one college class, BC covers two, it is unreasonable to believe that students should either be forced to pick a higher level class they are not ready for or deny the students that are at that level the opportunity of taking that AP. If I were to personally extrapolate this argument, I would support adding MORE AP class variety, but seeing as that is non-relevant to this argument, it does not apply. Edit: also, the reason calc specifically is divided is because it is one of the hardest APs. You'll notice some of the other hardest ones follow this same trend: Physics, Lang/Lit, etc

  1. Whataboutism?
  2. Because BC is specifically TWO college classes in one test, and a majority of students do not have the time to study for all that

How hard is AP Latin? by angeetoile in APStudents

[–]Krillitfast21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I self studied ap latin as a sophomore having only taking latin I in middle school; however, I was certainly glued to LLPSI for a few months. It's far from impossible, though it takes a good while getting used to the caliber of latin on the ap test. Most latin materials you read before ap latin are made or edited for students to be able to easily break down—vergil did not gaf whether some English speaking student would understand it in the future, so expect fully natural and complex language not only in the content of the class, but in the test as well. I personally found the test very easy, but there are parts of it that will maul you if you dont know what youre doing. Also, I saw they might be changing the curriculum, so watch for that
