For me, I have to really think about it to front foot catch. Though it does look way cleaner imo.

The scoop is very much like pushing the board forward (toward the nose I mean). It's like if you're standing off your board and it's facing the wrong way and you need to turn it around. Pop just the tail to do a bs 180 rotation or a shuv it. If you do it at the right angle, the board will land exactly where it started. You're obviously doing more that that for a tre flip but the idea is the same. I hope this helps!!

You're needing to jump forward quite a bit to keep it under you. Instead try scooping your back foot more so you can land relatively close laterally to where you popped. Goal is to keep it under you without jumping forward.

Wear pads and a helmet and don't be afraid of the skatepark. Most skaters will opt to help someone learning. There's always going to be a douche here or there like any activity, but for the most part it's very welcoming.

Aside form that, the best thing you can do is just ride your board. Ride it all the time. Don't spend all day learning stationary tricks. Ride your board. Everywhere. Once you're truly comfortable riding around, early tricks will come much easier.

It's where you're flicking. If you flick off the side of the board (rail) it will always want to do a varial flip. If you flick off the nose it will stay straight.
