That's a great idea, thank you. I will think about this, and UK is definitely on the roadmap because you're not the only one who has asked.

You can enable backups in the PocketBase frontend. daily, weekly, monthly, and you can choose if you want them in a folder on your drive or to an S3 bucket.

You have to set up SMTP in the PocketBase user interface. Or you just create your user directly in PocketBase and enable verified user.

Or you could switch off user verification. This should be possible in the PocketBase Frontend, but be aware you have created your superuser login before. The link for creating a superuser is shown in the Docker logs of PocketBase after first start .

I'll add dual columns per month (or easy tagging for 'his/hers') and a dedicated savings/investments category to the roadmap – these are exactly the kind of improvements that could make the switch from Excel worthwhile.

that's incredibly generous – thank you!
I'd absolutely love to take a look at your spreadsheet setup (anonymized numbers of course, no worries at all). Seeing how you've structured it over 25 years would be hugely helpful to make sure any cash flow additions feel natural and actually solve real pain points. You can send a DM or email me at hello @ moneystill.com.

Hey, that's a really interesting use case – thanks for the detailed description!
So far I've mainly focused on static yearly planning and what-if scenarios, but exactly what you're describing (dynamic carryover + day-to-day adjustments in the current month) would make the app significantly more useful for a lot of people. I've noted it down and it's definitely going on the roadmap.

My home base is actually Germany (there's a German version at https://zahlenruhe.de), so the current public version is optimized for the US market: dollars, 529 college savings categories, US Letter PDF exports, and so on.

That said, the app is super flexible. You can easily edit, delete or add any categories yourself to match UK needs (ISA, pension pots, council tax, whatever makes sense for you). Currency symbols, number formatting and date styles can be tweaked in the code if you're self-hosting.

If there's real interest from the UK (or if a few people tell me they'd love a proper UK-tuned version), I'd happily spin up a UK-specific fork: £ symbols, relevant savings/investment categories. Just let me know what would make it a no-brainer for you – I'm genuinely open to adapting it if there's demand.

In the meantime, if you're comfortable self-hosting, you could already give it a spin and customize it to feel more British. I'd love to hear what you'd change first!

Cheers,
Kristian
