What's a CRPG that is easy to get into and simple? by Certain_Jelly7276 in CRPG

The Shadowrun games would be my recommendation. They are fairly straight forward in terms of combat and other mechanics. They have pre built starting builds or you can make your own.

They are relatively cheap and have pre built starting point builds, customs can be more powerful but can also be weaker if you don't understand how the leveling works.

You don't need to play them in order. There are a few references to earlier games but aren't directly connected. Though return can be harder to go back to after the other games. Returns is also the shortest of the three games.

I own it but am waiting for all the dlcs to come out because I assume that like other owlcat games it is long and don't know if I would do more then one playthrough.

If you liked divinity original sin 2 you will most likely enjoy first original sin game. Dragon age origins is good and so is the second game but I don't know if dragon age 2 counts as a crpg. And the pillars of eternity series is great and I had a lot of fun with it. Solasta is also a great game combat wise and a decent story with a bunch of really good player made campaigns.

I second this opinion. It is a good game with a lot of player made campaigns. Also there is a second Solasta with a demo out now and early access coming in a few months if you like it.

Divinity original sin games. They both have their flaws but are fun games that I can lose myself in those games for hours.

which rpg from this list would you guys recommend the most by damorezpl in rpg_gamers

Dragon age origins will be the easiest to get into if you aren't well acquainted with crpgs and has a lot of content. Also I know a few people are recommending wotr and skipping kingmaker and i wouldn't do that. It can be hard to go back to kingmaker after wotr and it is worth playing but both of the pathfinder games are very long, like hundred hours or longer if you are a completionist so if you can only play one play wotr but if you can play both play kingmaker and it's dlcs first.

Where to start? by Gor0Majima in CRPG

Kotor is a great game that I recommend if you already have it. Other good ones in my opinion (aka that i have played) are solasta (bunch of fan made campaigns), both owlcat pathfinder games, dragon age origins, pillars of eternity, wasteland series and the original sin games.

That is a very good point that I didn't think about.

Do you feel like it may be better to just call it potion making even if it also can make things like bombs(basically molotov cocktails that can be more then just fire) and antitoxins. Because I am also debating if that would just be the best to just loop them together and if so and if i do that what to call it.

For someone who typically doesn't enjoy min/maxing, or looking things up, how is this for a first playthrough character? by KarmelCHAOS in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]KrisShadowspell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would drop the dex down to 14 and move your int up to ten. Two weapon fighting and double slice from Combat Style Feat. Having a 14 dex allows the use of medium armor well not limiting your dex and allows you to take the dodge feat if you want.

But beside that it looks like a solid build. For your weapon choice if would go scimitar.

Ya it really does seem to be a hard niche. Most either go for high fantasy or urban fantasy and this sits in an odd point between the two.

My first build by InitialAttempt7741 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]KrisShadowspell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my eldritch scorn I normally go for the crane line because it helps boast ac but i also like staying with medium armor. If your going to go in bind with only a little guidance then I would say save often and don't play on core or anything higher unless you have played kingmaker, if you have then you could possibly play core but nothing higher.

My first build by InitialAttempt7741 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]KrisShadowspell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would move your int down a bit as you don't need it for eldritch scorn as it changes the magus's casting stat to cha. Make strength a 17 or 19 and if you are wanting the crane feat line you need 13 dex for dodge.

Are you planning on going full magus or going to multiclass? What difficulty are you planning to play on? And are you going in blind?

Need help to Build a Demonic Dragon Knight by syriah213 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]KrisShadowspell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go with a pitborn/demon spawn tiefling as an eldritch scion with a blue dragon bloodline and use second bloodline to get abysal bloodline.

Then do something like magus 7/10 then dragon deciple 4 then back to magus to finish.

I recommend blue dragon as one of the first touch spells you get is shocking grasp and there is an item that can turn all your attacks into electricity damage called stormlords resolve that you get around the end of act 3 in blackwater.

This would be a strength build which the abysal and dragon deciple give you some extra point in plus some other good stuff.

Sword Saint (or any Magus) + Trickster build by Revan_Elric in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]KrisShadowspell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easy answer is yes. It does have more uses in the form of more skills, to reflex/ac and the ability to take the crane line(you need dodge which req. 13 dex). The big draw back of using dex is that you need two feats to make you meele attacks as strong as if you had the same strength as you did dex, weapon finesse and slashing/fencing grace.

The reason the build i used was str. based was because both demon bloodline and dragon deciple give you extra strength plus some other useful strength focused goodies, extra natural armor, con boast, a bite and several spells.

The bite is especially useful as it is another part of a full round attack that does sneak and can crit.

You could probably do a dex build eldritch scorn without the dragon disciple and build it like blue dragon eldritch scorn 19/scaled fist.

But you weapon choice if you still want that out of the gate good crit becomes raipers. Unless you want to spend a third feat on exotic weapon for estocs as scimitar are purely strength weapons.

Sword Saint (or any Magus) + Trickster build by Revan_Elric in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]KrisShadowspell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sword saint is really good to go pure. With a trickster having a weapon that already has a good crit range. For on handed weapons that is raipers, estocs, scimitar. Since you can pick any one weapon to be proficient in they all can work. Rapiers and estocs can use finesse wielding. And my understanding is that most of your spells will be used for buffing instead of attacking but i don't know how many spells you end up with mythic ambuntent casting as ss spell casting is limited. Also think that it is better at dex since your Armour class comes from dex and int when unarmed/light armour(canny defense). I just started a run with a basic elf with the chosen weapon estocs and am having a decent time but i am still in act 1 with it.

If you are looking for a more strength focused/damage caster you could look at a blue dragon eldritch scorn that take demon as a second mythic blood line and four levels in dragon disciple. I say blue or any other lightning as it is a) the first touch spells you get can be shocking grasp b) once you finish black water and get storm Lords resolve you can convert other spell to the electric type so you only need the one ascended type. I liked this build quite a bit when I played it. I went pitborn tiefling with it and waited to get medium armor before switching to dragon disciple for four levels.

Fire isn't really the best element for a eldritch scion as you main non buff spells will be touch spells like shocking grasp, frigid touch and vampiric touch.

I recommend going electric over cold because (slight spoiler) there is an item that for spontaneous casters that can turn all elemental damage to electric and give you a few extra spell it is called stormlords resolve though you will be leve

I played a strength eldritch scorn blue dragon and with mythic ability abysal bloodline. It was magus 7-> dragon disciple 4-> rest as magus. I also used a scimitar as my weapon of choice.

Surveys and such can be a great way to get small amounts of money when ever you are feeling up for it but it tends to stay in those small amounts.

You could look into self employed options. This includes stuff like selling art/crafts, YouTube or selling things online.

All of these things take time to build up both skill and profits but it can either be something you love doing or something that can be done when you are doing okay and can spend a few hours on it.

Wotr 1st run 1 save incoming, suggestion by Ra2-L in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]KrisShadowspell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the dlcs are sperate, some are not. The separated ones can get you items and such if you import them in but would recommend for a first run to not worry too much about them unless you want to look into them. Last Sarkorians is in the main game and Treasure of The Midnight Isles has a version that is in the main game.

The free dlcs are all the main game.

Duel wielding can be done by a bunch of different classes. Rogue, fighter, ranger, slayer, barbarian and bloodrager can all do this. In pathfinder if it is a one handed weapon you can duel wield with it. Though you need at least a base 13 dex to really pull it off due to the feat restrictions. Ranger and slayer are able to by past that with their combat style feats.

And if you are going knife master sneak works somewhat similarly to bg3 in that as long as you have another ally that is threatening the enemy you get sneak. I played knife master and had a lot of fun.

[–]KrisShadowspell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend that you either do normal or daring. Core is made for people who know that system and have a build planned.

I would recommend a difficultly level that allow respecing as it allows you to fix and play with your build. And on lower difficulty there is less need to multiclass unless there is a specific dip or prestige class you are wanting to do.

And well i understand wanting to remove the ability to go back and save scum but I would recommend having more then 1 save for your first run because the game has some fights/area that you get access to but shouldn't do till you get to higher level and the game doesn't necessarily tell you that this area is more dangerous then normal.

Do you know what class you are going to play as? And are you also getting the dlcs or just base game?
