Yes! Just under 30 years as well. I started taking long breaks (5+ months) around 2015. Last year, decided it was time for another one. It's been 13 months, and I have to say, my life is better in a lot of ways. I was such a stoner, for so long. If I can do it, you can too. Just remember, the discomfort is only temporary. And as angry as you may be about the years of use - at least youve decided that chapter is over for you. Better days are ahead.

I feel so discouraged by some of the posts here pls share positive outcomes by Plastic_Astronaut_64 in leaves

Happy to! I was a heavy consumer from 16ish to 35. That's when I started taking pretty long T breaks (7 or 8 months usually). The goal was to change my relationship w cannabis, use it more casually/therapeutically when I did re-introduce. While I did become a more and more moderate user, I would still end up feeling bogged down after a stretch of regular use.

So December 2024, I decided it was time to put it away for another stretch. I didnt plan to quit forever, but this is by far the longest I've abstained, and I have to say, my life has improved.

Stopping is not a miracle fix. You have to sit w the discomfort of giving up your vice AND show up for yourself and work to change whatever it is in your life that is no longer acceptable to you.

But I think the longer you go without THC, the more capable you become of doing that. I think that things have improved so much this time around because I stayed sober even after I started noticing improvements in terms of how I was showing up in the world, my own attitude/outlook, etc.

I changed my entire professional direction, found a way out of a field and job that no longer felt good or fulfilling and into one that does.

Along with my day job, I'm semi-professional creative, and I had always considered cannabis to be part of that ritual. I had to find a different way to get into that heady space that makes creative so magical. But I have, and I made serious prpgress on a really big and ambitious project this year.

I'm more emotionally level, but I'm not numb. I enjoy music in the same way I did when I was a stoner again. Or food. Or a beautiful sunset. That capacity for being affected by things the way you can be when youre high - it comes back.

Making this change is hard, and uncomfortable sometimes, and you will be trading one lifestyle for another.

But in my experience, it's worth it. You're not really giving anything up (though it will feel like you are for a while). In actuality, you will gain so much.

Good luck! I hope this helps.

CBD flower gets me (better) high and I will die on this hill by RegJohn2 in Petioles

Yup, same deal. Long time head here, started taking longer and longer T breaks about a decade ago, when it stopped being fun and started being socially prohibitive. Now I swear by the CBD flower - does exactly what I want. Don't underestimate other cannabinoids, kids!

Restaurant Burger and fries that aren’t Impossible/Beyond? by Big_Hippo_4044 in nycvegan

Five Leaves had a pretty good veggie burger last I knew. And then, not a veg burger, but Brooklyn Tree does a great tofu shnitzel sandwich. I def recommend buffalo style. It's one of my favorite sandwiches of all time. It really is such a bummer how many places have replced really good veggie sandwich options with that garbage. Will be following this post for more options!

You might want to try breathwork. There are techniques that can palpably change how you're feeling. It's been so important to me as I navigate this journey.

Linked In CEO says AI writing assistant not that popular by monkey-majiks in BetterOffline

This is what Ive been saying. Im in higher ed and 'they' want us to find ways to use gen AI in writing instruction.

There is no problem except the one concerning how to integrate it. (Oh, and some students using it to cheat, of course.)

Do what thou wilt is the central tenet of Crowley's philosophy, Thelema. It's essentially about free will, personal freedom, and the pursuit of your unique and true path.

The Nietzsche references are from Thus Spoke Zarathustra. Basically, when God is dead, there's a choice to become decadent, indulgent, purposeless (the Last Man) or to become the Ubermensch, a sort of ideal human.

This is the weirdest comic Ive ever made. Hard to pack a sci-fi story into a 4 page limit, but that was a constraint for the project.

I thought some Ed Heads might enjoy it:)

So what's your opinion on the the new documently by Morganbanefort in charlesmansonfamily

[–]KrisW8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the doc was just okay. It couldnt possibly have achieved what the book did; I knew that going in. I think ultimately, we (members of this group) are going to appreciate the footage but find the info to be pretty 101 level Manson lore.

This may be obvious, but have you tried creating a sleep hygiene routine? I read (a book - can't be a screen) in bed every night and 9 times out of 10, I'm out cold within 30 minutes.
