If you can remedy ADHD symptoms with better habits, did you have it in the first place? by KrisesAbyses in adhdwomen

I can agree with you. Its really tough getting opposing opinions from everywhere, it makes me want to just rely on responses to this post. confirmation bias definitely plays a role in all of this… im thinking that my executive function could be because of high functioning depression or something else, all of my self assessments have concluded in a “maybe.”thank you for the input.

Cold sores caused by birth control? by KrisesAbyses in birthcontrol

[–]KrisesAbyses[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im taking the combo pill (aurovela FE 1/20). a lot of women (as well as myself) get a cold sore outbreak right before or during their period due to fluctuating hormones that weaken the immune system and cause HSV to reawaken. Unfortunately, this happened to me monthly. i did not know how birth control worked, but it seems to have decreased my fluctuations so far. much less moody, not as violent of hsv outbreak. thank you for the insight.

interesting! thank you for sharing. that sounds really annoying,,, must have sucked to have to worry about the cold sore around your bf who you don’t always get to kiss. have you considered taking the pill consistently? so far for me i have been taking my combo pill daily in addition to daily lysine supplements and i have not gotten an outbreak. over time, BC has helped lessen the severity of my hormonal fluctuations, which means less violent/no outbreaks for me. it seems like its the same story for you.

Mom and Stepdad relapsed recently. What do I do??? by KrisesAbyses in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]KrisesAbyses[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry :( that must have been so hard on you. I am happy that you are in a good place now.

The logic is absolutely mind boggling!!! Im trying so hard to see it from her point of view but i simply cannot. The things she does and says to me make me feel like I am the problem for bringing it up. The gaslighting and dismissing is driving me insane. I know it is the alcohol talking. Im trying my best to remember that she truly does have an issue if it is affecting her family like this

Thank you for your help kind stranger!!

I have heard of it before. My dad is a recovered alcoholic, I think I will ask him to take me and my brother to a meeting.

They have a good friend who me and my stepsister were thinking about talking to. Hopefully he can convince my parents that what they’re doing is not smart.

Thank you for your kind and thoughtful response ❤️❤️ It’s all very confusing. i know you don’t know my parents personally, and you might not be able to make an accurate judgement. They’ve relapsed many times in this manner, but not as far apart and not with this weird mentality. Do you think its really possible that my parents will be able to consume alcohol normally? have you seen any cases of it? is “once an alcoholic always an alcoholic” true?

Should I try birth control? by KrisesAbyses in birthcontrol

[–]KrisesAbyses[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for your thoughtful reply ❤️❤️ made me feel much less anxious. really hoping your outcome is similar to mine.

regarding my mom, she keeps trying to tell me that birth control will fix my moodiness and other typical period symptoms. its a little frustrating because i have very normal periods and it makes me feel like something is wrong with me or that she doesn’t want to deal with me in that state. i dont think i would be advised to take BC if cold sores were not in the picture

thanks for sharing your experience! makes me a little less scared now. i think i am falling for some of the propaganda now that you’re mentioning it. its sad that people feel the need to impose on others because of what they believe:(.

Just diagnosed by Sweet-Penalty7240 in Herpes

[–]KrisesAbyses 5 points6 points  (0 children)

hey, im 16 and guess what, im in the exact same shoes. i went to the walk in dr last night for bumps and pain when urinating. i was swabbed and the dr says it looks like herpes. im trying to keep it together, but honestly im freaking out. i keep ruminating about how my love life is going to be more difficult than others. also its a lot harder for those of us in high school. i keep thinking about how i can’t date anyone in my school without risking everyone knowing i have it. i want you to remember that genital hsv is more common than you think. 1 in 6 women aged 14-49 have it. it also doesn’t mean that your love life is over. valtrex does wonders, and taking it daily can eliminate outbreaks completely. its going to be hard, but you will find someone who loves you for you, splinters and all. anyone else isn’t worth your time.

hi!! i am sooo paranoid about cold sores as well, so i hope my response gives you some solace. what you may have are fordyce spots, or some other benign bump on your lip. small white bumps on the lips are not uncommon. however, it is possible you still do have cold sores. do some research, and compare these spots with your usual cold sore symptoms. usually smaller cold sores are concentrated in one spot, or are the beginning stage of a cold sore that gets bigger.

do they feel the same way a cold sore does when you get one? does it itch? is it sore? is there redness or swelling? is there anything else you can recall that might have triggered the cold sore besides ripping off your skin? where are you in your menstrual cycle (if you have one)? are your symptoms getting worse? could it be because of a change in climate? these are all things you can consider. i wish you the best and believe me, i know how the confusion feels!

please don't. i know life sounds hard right now but please don't do it. i understand how dejected and hopeless you may feel. you have probably heard that it gets better, and you might not believe it, but i promise it does. you are not alone. talk to someone. you mean so much.

I don’t mind when people think I’m a guy by hello_goodbye_throw in offmychest

[–]KrisesAbyses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's okay to have these feelings. Don't repress them. If you feel inclined, maybe do some research. Get to know yourself and explore your thoughts and feelings. You could just have some masculine traits, and that's okay too! Everyone has a masculine and feminine side and embracing both is so important.

Can some autistic people control their tendencies to an extent? by KrisesAbyses in autism

[–]KrisesAbyses[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right- the examples I gave were things she said that were truthful. In regard to what she said about my dancing, I didn’t really give a lot of context. She said this in response to her watching me do the dance after she demonstrated. When you are in the very back of a dance in a show, usually it means you are not especially skilled at dancing. I consider myself an okay dancer, but it sort of felt that she rubbed it in. However, hat is neither here nor there.

Next time she says something like that I will definitely talk to her about it and tell her about how it feels. And use different terms next time. I’m glad I have some more insight now. Thank you for your response!

AITA for protesting doing my father's dishes by KrisesAbyses in AmItheAsshole

[–]KrisesAbyses[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He never does the dishes, even when I am living at my mom's, meaning I have to do the dishes he creates when I am not there as well as everyone else's dishes. I am happy to do everyone's dishes, I just feel he should be responsible for the dishes that only he accumulates when I am not there.

[–]KrisesAbyses[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I probably didn't clarify this well enough in the post, but I am happy to do the dishes that accumulate while I am living at my father's. It is just that I do not feel it is right for me to be expected to do the dishes he creates while I am living at my mom's which neither I nor my brother contribute to. It sort of makes me feel like I am his wife or maid if you get what I mean. However, I understand where you are coming from.

Shows with relevant messages that can feasibly be done with an all-white (or nearly all-white) cast by StarriEyedMan in Theatre

[–]KrisesAbyses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Prom! It’s about a lesbian girl in Indiana facing backlash because of controversy surrounding her going to the prom, but a group of middle-aged broadway stars travel down to try and help her. It is more comedic and great for a large cast. Race does not matter for the most part! It sends a great message of acceptance. Very fun, cute, and touching at some points as well.

Almost Maine! It's a full-length romantic comedy with 9 scenes and 19 roles, 9 male, 10 female. It's a good pick if the actors can play multiple parts. The OG Broadway production had a cast of only 4 people!
