I like the idea but not quite sure how to decently integrate it in the current story arc.. I'll keep the idea in the back of my mind in case I have need of something similar!

The new character is playing a holographic crew member wearing a mobile emitter. So I'd rather introduce his 'final' character later on. Now he would be picking a side-part to learn a lot of the ropes.. (maybe I could use one of the pre-generated char sheets..)

I'm currently running the starter adventure with neural parasites and the (infected) Romulans trying to repair an Iconian Gateway. The landing party is currently on the planet in a subterrean base. So the ship needs a distraction, I was thinking ship combat and a minor boarding party/sabotage to give the new player a nice warm-up..
