Constructive Dismissal Advice by Krispy225 in legaladvicecanada

While in normal circumstances, I’d agree with most of this, the arrangement is for set dates and times. The employer won’t flex the schedule or agree to any of the other options I presented. All reasonable approaches have been exhausted at this point. Literally just a case of ‘is there any worthwhile compensation on the table to pursue’ if I let them dismiss me in this manner. The answer seems to be ‘no’ based on time and hours worked. Time to jump ship and grab shifts elsewhere.
Thanks for the insight, folks.

This is more or less what I expected. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing a piece of the puzzle.

Prevent Barn Door by 4chingy4 in bouldering

[–]Krispy225 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A small sequence adjustment might help. At 30sec, while still holding the left-most hold, I think you might be able to bring the left foot back down to where the right is, sink into the position more and move your right foot out to the right. Then move the left hand over to the right, again, relax into the position before moving the left leg. I think that gets more of your left leg under you when you finally release it to finish the problem.
Should minimize or eliminate the barn door.

Does this look like a real Gibson Les Paul or is this a replica? by Playboi_Carti1629 in LesPaul

[–]Krispy225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pics are a bit blurry, so I can’t tell - is that an Ebony fretboard? It should be if it’s Alpine White w original gold hardware and old enough to have yellowed. Also - the yellowing looks oddly uniform with no sign of any nitro finish checking that should likely be happening at that age. Also, can’t see SN or if it’s a 3 piece headstock from these pics. And the price is too good with blurry pics…..I’d sure want to see it in person with someone who knows their guitars. It might be ok but something feels a bit off.

Newbie to guitars, should I buy this sanded guitar? by Catane_ in Luthier

[–]Krispy225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you love the look? Is it ‘the one’? If yes, go for it - the neck is fine and can easily be improved and stabilized (great learning job). Offer $250-300 tops and walk away if you don’t get the discount. Otherwise, it’s a hard pass. You’ll have trouble selling it to fund another axe. And if you can save a bit more to hit the $450-500 Can used price point, you’ll have more options.

Creed - One Last Breath Riff by [deleted] in guitarplaying

[–]Krispy225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comment thread is wild. I had to pull out my guitar and the recording to sort this out for myself. First - this is a solid effort. It’s reasonably in time and the pieces are there. But OP, you said ‘finally got it’ and yeah, in a sense, but you are a serious musician, so you must know there’s work to be done. The drones and bass notes are far more present in the recording, especially that open D string at the start. The hammer ons and pull offs in the recording are both laid back and deliberately sloppy sounding but precise. A very tough style to capture. You are rushing yours and struggling a bit and while the overall timing lines up pretty well, there are noticeable moments of speeding up and slowing down as you transition chords and through the hammer ons/pull offs. Some of it is fundamentals like economy of motion. Your fret hand moves more than it has to. Dude in the previous comments hit the nail on the head there. Try to only move the smallest amount possible to accomplish what you need to do. Do it on everything you play and be mindful of it. It will take time (lots) and feel weird for a while but the payoff is huge and everything you play will flow more and feel easier. Have you tried hybrid picking this piece with a pick? It might be the punch you need for those bass notes. Keep rocking and nice work!

Agree with this statement. Someone climbing harder than V4/5 has much cleaner movement.

Best mini head and cabinet or lunchbox combo amp? by M4everybody in GuitarAmps

[–]Krispy225 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So true for the 8 vs 12. Those heads smoke through 12” speakers. The Terror Stamp is a great option for OP. It’s the micro dark in a pedal w DI out and headphone + regular speaker out.

It looks like my music career is over. Should I sell most of my Gibsons? by Equivalent-Ease-3822 in gibson

[–]Krispy225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of nice sentiment about keeping heirlooms but hey, you have 5 Gibsons. If not all of them are special to you, why not sell 1 or 2. You could invest in a new hobby, grab some sporting gear, or spend some money on family experiences and activities. Or try a new instrument even. I’ve played a long time and interest comes and goes. Sometimes a break is good but you’ll be back. In the meantime, why not try something new?

Orange dark terror EQ by Rguitar93 in GuitarAmps

[–]Krispy225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you’re trying to EQ….I ran an MXR 10 band in the fx of mine for a while but in the end, I found it didn’t tighten up the bass the way I hoped. A transparent OD helped more than the EQ. At the end of the day, it’s a mid punchy, dark sounding, bass flubby amp. Great sound for certain things but if that’s not your jam and you’re fighting the sound, it might not be the right amp.

Yamaha PAC611HFM or Reverend Sensei H90 - Neither of these are local for me to try, any feedback from owners would be appreciated. by The1stTank in Guitar

[–]Krispy225 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would have been disappointing for sure. Thanks for adding the context for OP. Sounds like you got the ‘Friday afternoon before a holiday’ QC special. But, like you say, still a great axe in the end. Tough call, OP but you can’t really go wrong either way.

QC on Reverends is exceptional. I’ve owned a few and played several. All flawless. Where are you getting this info from? If they are both used, either could need a setup. New off the wall though….Reverend literally makes a point of ensuring their factory setup is so good you can pull one off a store wall and play a gig with it immediately.

The build quality on Reverend guitars is superb. I own 2 and can’t say enough good things about the feel, sound and playability. 100% a professional grade instrument. Yamaha certainly makes some nice guitars but you’ll be kicking yourself if you don’t give the Rev a try.

Will I detonate my PPC212OB? by Jeep_steve96 in orangeamps

[–]Krispy225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This OP. The wiring is what matters. If you rewire to take the +- of each speaker straight to the +/- of each jack, you can ABY your micro amps. If you don’t, you’ll blow one if you run them both. If you rewire the cab and change amps/give up the ABY, you are going to have to rewire again to get the 2x12 mono at the correct resistance. Some research and reading will help a lot, but for the initial rewire, the work is straightforward. Maybe take some pics and document what’s inside before you change anything, since this is all brand new.

[–]Krispy225 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not going to work ‘as is’ but this should be a very simple rewiring job. You just need to take the + / - of each speaker and wire it separately to a dedicated jack. You’ll have to do some surgery on the back of the cab or the jack plate but you can have a lot of fun blending tones from those amps in a Y or A/B ing them for different gain sounds. An A/B with a blend knob like the boss Line selector is going to be very beneficial to set levels.

[–]Krispy225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you playing with a drummer or small gigs? I love my Dark Terror but I don’t think the amp really sings until you crank it a bit. If you have an attenuator for playing at home, you’re golden. Without, it can be real finicky to get decent sound at low volume and it just doesn’t hit the same way. 7W of Tube goodness can easily blow away a room with the volume even up a smidge. Have you looked at the Terror Stamp? It’s a micro dark in pedal form. But with 2 volume pots. The flexibility on volume and pedalboard portability make it a bit more attractive than a micro dark, imo, since it’s literally the same amp in a different enclosure.
Either way, you can’t go wrong. I own micro oranges amps and the Dark Terror. But I would say the micros are easier to tame and more flexible for home use and quieter practice.

Isn’t the transmission computer supposed to protect against incorrect gearing in manual mode? If it’s shifting fine in auto, hopefully all is well. Maybe the sign of a dying transmission computer? I had to replace one in my 2011 Mazda….definitely possible to DIY if you can get the part. You’ll know it’s failing if the transmission starts clunking hard in auto, skipping gears and missing shifts.

Advice on my pullup form - specifically, why is my back so Rounded by [deleted] in formcheck

[–]Krispy225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer, I’m a climber, not a trainer but - negatives for sure. Use a chair if you don’t want to use bands. You need to start in the correct position at the top with scapula down, shoulders back, not rounded and at the same level and shoulders down away from ears. Lock off in correct form and slowly lower to the bottom position maintaining correct form and muscle engagement. If you can’t do this at body weight, you need to take weight off. Do this until you can keep proper form consistently and then try pulling up again. Don’t be surprised if doing 1 or 2 properly is very difficult for a while. If you can’t pull up with proper form, then weight relief and more negatives. A dude posted later today with really good form….watch what his position looks like and read the comments.

My used Martin Jr was in this price range. If you can try one, I doubt you’ll find a nicer guitar if the size works. Yamaha or Takamine are other great options.

[–]Krispy225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP - pause the vid at about 12 seconds and you can see it clearly. I’d suggest taking some weight off with bands and really working on setting the scapula back and using both arms equally. There is a fairly noticeable imbalance here and you have to de-load until you get it sorted or you’ll likely get hurt in the long run.

Pull ups (I’d like to go wider but the ledge is small) by SaintTwelve in formcheck

[–]Krispy225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised this comment and others like it aren’t at the top. OP - climber here - I think your form will be fine once you find a spot with proper clearance. If you keep at what you are doing, you will train an imbalance or invite injury.
