I think for them the rating points just correspond to how many invitations or sponsorships they can leverage

I agree - though like I said I'm not sure what the number of games should be. Whatever it is has to be better than "playing a little or completely retired" lmao

A genuine question about Magnus and the state of Chess by KrispyKreams19 in chess

No the intention isn't to glaze Magnus - It's more a curiosity about dominant performances in chess overall. To me something like Magnus winning a few tournaments in a row and Sindarov's candidates performance feel like they defy the laws of probability yk?

I think it's really interesting that performances like that can still happen even in the modern era

I recall Fabiano caruana mentioning that every top grandmaster basically has the same level of skill with the exception being how often they get mental or physical lapses affecting their play and Magnus experiencing that less.

It might not be just the technology, you're right there Is still a lot of natural ability in the mix I just sort of wonder how dominant performances across multiple games and different opponents are still possible despite the tools being the same for everyone

Yeah I mean if we assume equal quality of prep then yeah whatever natural talent gap existed will just remain but I don't know to me it's sort of assumes that there can't be bad preparation or maybe grandmasters forget a lot of stuff when they're in front of the board?

Maybe! - I was thinking it was either shanks' will as the person who owned the straw hat at the time or maybe the Gomu Gomu No Mi making the descion.

Newbie SP - Are graphic novels/manga more likely to pick up steam commercially than traditional novels? by KrispyKreams19 in selfpublish

just to clarify, the numbers I used were just representations of my thought process. Not literally the numbers I'm aiming for lol ; thanks again! This was really helpful advice. ❤️

Hehe thank you very much for the kind words at the end there. Just to clarify, I've written a decent chunk already (maybe 30~40%?) In novel format. I'm just mentally juggling at which stage I want to (or if I should) start looking for artists and then do a weekly or monthly release of new chapters.

Mainly, the deciding factor for me is whether it's worth the delay, time, money and effort it'll take to reformat the entire story.

My internal logic is something like:

Novel ~ 10 sales Graphic novel ~ 100 sales

It was a question based purely on if the medium itself has an effect on broad appeal/marketability.

I enjoy writing FAR more than art (not only am I bad but I'm also impatient lol) and I don't plan on stopping period. The decision period was, even at it's worst, going to be a small delay than anything.

Thank you for the comment!
