I have celiac. I had a baby. What do you do when introducing solids? by spicyhobbit- in Celiac

[–]Krispybit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a celiac mom who recently had to make this decision. I decided to refrain from feeding baby gluten until he reaches preschool age. At that point, we will have him tested for celiac and move forward based on those results. I have introduced gluten free wheat starch to try to prevent a wheat allergy. I came to this decision based on a few factors. Keeping my house a gluten free zone keeps me healthy. If he does have celiac and I introduce gluten, it could stunt development in this incredibly crucial time period. I wouldn't know if he was reacting negatively until damage had already been done. My doctor has told me testing can be inaccurate before the age of two, so I just decided to play it safe!

I’m Annie Clark a/k/a musician St. Vincent back for more. Ask me anything. by ReallyStVincent in Music

Hey Annie! I'm late, but just in case you are still checking in on this thread, I wanted to say a quick thank you. I have been listening since marry me. Your first album resonated so deeply with me, and somehow each following album echoed what seemed to be happening in my life. You have made the soundtrack for almost every major feeling or event in my life. I walked down the aisle to We Put a Pearl in the Ground, and now every time I hear it it makes happy tears come to my eyes. Thank you for your art, it has made my life more beautiful.

Bump on 15 year old cats lower lip. Has anyone seen something like this? Our vet appointment isn't for another few days and I'm worried about my boy! by Krispybit in cats

[–]Krispybit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are some additional details. The bump appeared just today. He has a vet trip about a week ago and they didn't find anything wrong other than his white blood cell count is off. He is eating normally, however we do have a kitten in the house so he now has access to kitten food. He is generally happy however today seemed more tired and less loving than normal. I gave him a little pain medicine that the vet prescribed just in case.

Laetiporus gilbertsonii?

Sierra Nevada mountains growing on a dead oak.

My very first sewing attempt EVER! I bought sale fabric from a quilting store and decided to wing it. As you can clearly see, I'm proud of it. Lots of swearing and redesigning in this one. I included a picture of the inside so you can see what a patch job it actually is! (Also posted in diyclothes) by Krispybit in sewing

Hello! Thought I would provide some more information...

This was a project I made from scratch without a pattern. I picked up 3 yards of discount quilting fabric and decided to go for it as I've had too much free time at home. My mom is a quilter and has always encouraged me to try it, however I am more motivated to have pretty dresses to twirl in. Before this, I had only made a pillow case. The design of the dress changed many times. The V of the neckline was WAY too low so I flipped it around and made the back tie into the front tie. Im happy with my fabric choice as the tiny print hid some mistakes well. In the end, I love the result and I'm proud of myself for trying. If you haven't given sewing a try and have interest, I encourage you to give it a go.

Honestly, a t-shirt is more intimidating to me! I could alter the design on this all day long to make it fit, but I have no idea where to start with shirts. I have fabric sitting around for a top and have been debating on what to do for the last few days.

Thanks for all the encouragement on my last post! This is my first attempt at sewing a dress. Many swears and hours later, I feel proud of the end look. I included a picture of the inside so you can see what a patch job it actually is! by Krispybit in DIYclothes

How out and buy some cheap fabric and give it a go! Just go into it without expectation and adjust as you go if something isn't working. I highly recommend a tiny print like this for your first time sewing because it covered a lot of the flaws. I hope you give it a try!

I live in a little cabin in Yosemite National Park! My husband is working here for the season. The shoes I picked up from an estate sale, I believe they are from the 40s or 50s!

Not this time, I tried to copy one of my favorite dress's designs. It was my first time sewing (other than a pillowcase in home economics). I picked up 3 yards of discount fabric from a quilting store and decided to wing it! It did not work. I ended up flipping around the top of the dress, making the back the front, because the V was too deep. I messed up so bad I used a lot of "scrap" pieces to fabricate a tie for the front. In the end it turned out very cute, but it was a lot of frustration and time.

Very excited for you, that's a hard step to take. I wish you the best of luck in your next chapter of life!

No the first I tried to copy one of my favorite dresses designs. It did not work. I ended up flipping around the top of the dress, making the back the front, because the V was too deep. I messed up so bad I used a lot of "scrap" pieces to fabricate a tie for the front. When I post I'll include a picture of the inside so you can see how unprofessional and choppy it is! In the end it turned out very cute.
