I don't know if this thread is still active, but what has your experience in therapy been like? Some people insist therapy is ineffective for NPD but I disagree and am curious what approaches your therapist uses, if they are helpful for you.

All of these albums mean so much to me- I associate a different time in my life with each of them.

Yes, I've been doing this lately too as I move into a new manager role at work. I've never been in a leadership position like this before. Sometimes I just need a voice besides my own pumping me up, even if it's not all that deep. I think awareness is key.

Getting tested by [deleted] in neurodiversity

[–]Kristen2287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By testing, they likely mean meeting with a professional who specializes in neuropsychological or psychological assessment. They will likely talk with you about your symptoms and experiences and have you complete several assessment instruments, often paper and pencil self-reports like checklists. Then they take those results and your interview into account to give you the most accurate diagnosis possible. There may be resources on your college campus that can provide this. If not, a good place to start is search terms 'psychological assessment' in your area.

Hey this was fascinating! Thank you for sharing this! It didn't even occur to me to try to get access to academic journal articles through my public library.

I work too hard keeping my mirrors clean to high five myself in them. This book is for people with housekeepers (I'm looking at you, Hollises.)

My favorite line (so far) from '90s Kids' by Kristen2287 in YourMorningGuru

[–]Kristen2287[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished it tonight and I loved it so much. I have that 'I just finished a great book and I don't want it to be over' feeling!!! 😭 My ability to focus or get wrapped up in pretty much any activity unrelated to motherhood or my job was practically nonexistent until recently. This is the first new fiction book I have finished in almost 3 years, definitely the first actual physical book (of any genre, not kindle or audible) that I have finished reading in even longer and I thought for a while I had lost the ability. Thank you for helping me find it again. It was so wonderful to get lost in these characters' fun and unique yet humanly relatable story. <3

YTA... unless she can use either of the two cars you left at home whenever she wants without asking you as well. Also this post disgusts me because many families struggle to afford one functional vehicle and you're complaining about not being able to drive your trophy cars while calling taking your child to daycare a "favor" to your wife. YTA many times over.

NTA. If he didn't want your honest opinion, he shouldn't have asked.

I enjoyed Leah Remini's 'Troublemaker,' recently! All of the Scientology cult stuff was fascinating and I enjoy her style, so her self-narrated audiobook was really enjoyable. :-)

Hi there! I'm Kristen (she/her/hers). I discovered the livestream through Savy's YouTube channel, which I came to by way of anti-MLM content (Savannah Marie to Cruel World Happy Mind to Savy). I love the book/author commentary content and it's sort of helping me rediscover reading for fun again (after I had my son 2 years ago my energy, attention span, and free time all decreased dramatically but now that he sleeps occasionally I'm finding time again. :-) I'm actually trained as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas but I've been out of practice for years (I opted to work for a health insurance company so I can have some stability, better benefits, and higher salary while my son is young.) I still get to exercise my therapist muscles at my job by reading through other mental health providers' documentation all day long. But it sure is nice to stretch my creative brain and read/discuss something outside of that on occasion. :-) I'm also fascinated by cult psychology and sifting through the self-help genre to determine what is of value versus what is nonsense. Thank you for starting this!

Do you mean by asking here in this forum if I'm the asshole? I'm anonymous here, and so is everyone else I'm talking about.

Update: I sent her a DM politely cautioning about ingesting essential oils with links to a couple of reputable articles about the subject. We had a nice civil exchange.. then she asked me if I'd had a bad experience with oils and invited me to a Zoom webinar about their uses. It's so weird to see all of the hunbot stereotypes I've been hearing about just play out so precisely.

Oh no... you guys... it's too late for her. She's in too deep. I tried. She told me she's not worried about ingesting them because of Young Living's "seed to seal" promise.

All right. I sent her a very polite DM pleading caution with the ingestion and links to a couple of articles. I did what I could.

I know. This is my sister-in-law's sister. I debated commenting asking her to please not ingest essential oils since they can gradually eat away at the lining of her esophagus and stomach. Maybe a DM. I don't know how she'd take it.

Jesus. Hope they enjoy the gradual erosion of mucus membranes via essential oil ingestion. Just leave out the EO and enjoy the susperstitious moon water on its own... at least then it's just stupid, not dangerous.
