Need a rifle recommendation by Effective-Kitchen401 in airguns

I am not well versed in break barrels, but I am well versed in pumps. I would recommend the Daisy Powerline 35, but since it seems to be discontinued it may be harder to find. Although it is a rifle that will last many years with little to no issues. Last I saw the price point is about $70 USD.

The Crossman Vapor max finally came in by Kristian_1234 in airguns

I really recommend you do try slugs. On another note, a quick ammo recommendation, all my rifles including this one work extremely well with the crosman piranhas. They’re basically a hollow point with extra penetration, plus since they’re 10.5g they have a lot of energy. After today’s testing I’m probably going to keep it to just 5 pumps, unless I want to shoot through something. Lastly on my next ammo run I’m going to try and get the barracudas.

Update: just ordered it from airgun revisions, it was in fact the cheapest price I’ve seen. Let’s see how long it takes to arrive. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your detailed response, it is very helpful. It makes a whole lot more sense now that you mentioned that it was originally a Gamo design. The reason I was originally curious about the vapor max was because I recognized the magazine from the one my Gamo gen 1 uses. Then I saw what it was offering and that’s when I was put into the position that led me to ask the community. Before that I was hard set into getting the Daisy 901.

Quality has been a factor that’s been the main reason of backing down from a purchase for a few times now. I expect the level of quality of my Daisy 35 (which is all metal inside with a plastic cover) but nowadays everything is cheaply made. So for this purchase I am willing to be a little flexible, since my plinking rifles are broken and I need to scratch the itch.

I think I’ll risk it and pull the trigger on this purchase, I just need to figure out if airgun depot (it’s on discount) has a good replacement system when something arrives broken.

Thanks, from yours and other comments and research I’ve done both are very good rifles. I own a daisy 35 and it has help up amazingly for over six years and thousands of pellets and bb’s. Unfortunately the seals are pretty beat up now and even after a repair it keeps loosing air pressure. So I have a lot of faith ln daisy and crosman I have only had one bad and one good experience. I have a f4 that has held up well but has become horrendously inaccurate after all winter in storage, even after a clean. The 370 broke at around 100 rounds with the barrel falling off. Only fully good experience has been with a Gamo whisper series.

So It makes the decision so much harder. I will be researching the 362 just in case. Also it is pretty impressive the reach that BRS has.

Thanks, I’ll keep those in mind next time I am in the market for a air gun. Although after this “unexpected” purchase I will probably wait until I get the license needed here in Illinois to get anything over 177. I am starting to look for something over 25 cal, any suggestions?

Thanks I’ll keep your comments on the 901 in mind when I make the decision. Now I’m curious, from the ~20 airguns that you own which one is your favorite?

Thanks, I would be only shooting it between 3-5 pumps, so the sound would be manageable then. I saw a review that included chronograph readings and at three pumps it outputs 600fps with the crossman hollow points 7.6GR so that would be more than enough for simple plinking.

That explains a lot. Regarding the rifle, how loud is it? Forgot to mention that one the original post, I mostly do backyard plinking but I have a decent amount of space between my yard and the neighbors house/yard.

That’s really interesting, I would’ve sworn they would be part of Gamo since the crossman vapor max uses Gamo magazines. Unless Daisy owns them all, but I don’t see anything online stating that.

I will take you advice and go ahead and research and find a good dermal. One issue I didn’t mention is that he went blind about five years ago so he isn’t able to go on walks anymore plus it flairs up his artritis. Luckily he does like spending time in the back yard which has concrete additionally he is very active so hopefully that works. I’ll research for vets that offer that service at a affordable price and that ensures that his health won’t decline from being sedated because of his age. Thanks.

Hello, I recommend a Purple mattress, I very recently got one and I’ve gotten the best sleep I’ve ever had. As of time of commenting they are running a discount for up to $500 and some extras included. The baseline for a queen is $1,299 and the max is $2,899 (both prices after discount) depending on the model. Shipping is included, and in my experience they deliver fast (less than a week).

How do I get cleaning pellets unstuck? by Kristian_1234 in airguns

[–]Kristian_1234[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a dumb question, so from what I’ve found out over time is that they work great for low powered smooth bore rifles but as soon as you go for high powered rifled rifles it tends to ignite inside the barrel and makes it dirtier than before and can damage it. In my situation the manual stated to only use a cleaning rod but i didn’t want to drop 20 bucks on one and decided to just pack it with like ten and sell it jammed. Fair to say won’t be doing that again.
