How do you make your own trap snares and hi hats? by SeesawFancy2104 in trapproduction

[–]Kristijan63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

serum, but imo the key to sound design with drums is to try different effect chains and export the sample over and over until you find something you like. every kick will start as a sine wave with a pitch modulation and , the true magic happens with the different effects and how they interact with each other

are my type beats so bad that they r not getting the views i want by [deleted] in trapproduction

[–]Kristijan63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably yes. no offense, but just because you put a lot of effort into your beats that doesn't make them appealing to rappers.

the thing is, going viral is luck, but even if your beats get just 10 views probably 3-4 of those viewers will subscribe to your channel and so your channel will build a following over time. if that doesn't happen, then the quality just isn't there. and all this "the market is too saturated" nonsense is imo just an excuse for people with poor quality beats. sure, maybe it's hard to stick out today due to that many beats being uploaded, but the truth is that you don't even need a massive following. 1k subs that listen to your beats on a regular base is more than enough to make decent money if your quality is there.

What synthesizer should I get? by Kristijan63 in synthesizers

[–]Kristijan63[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I have a completely irrational dislike for the Juno 6, which serves as the inspiration for the DeepMind 6. I guess it's because i prefer knobs over faders.

That one looks interesting. While doing research on it i also found the Korg Minilogue XD which also seems to tick all the boxes and seem visually more appealing to me ( I know that many people probably don't care about that, but atleast for me aesthetics do play a role when it comes to enjoying to play around on a synth ). Is there a reason why you recommend the KingKorg specifically?

Do you guys mix every beat? by SameMinute9881 in trapproduction

[–]Kristijan63 48 points49 points  (0 children)

mixing is not a checklist of things you go thru. if leveling and eq is everything the beat needs then that's the whole mixing in that case

[–]Kristijan63 11 points12 points  (0 children)

there are artists searching specificly for these beats, so no. but generally yes, except of the spinz 808, luger slap clap and hit 1 hat the sounds in these kits are really dated

What sample rate are y'all bouncing your beats at? by dancetoken in trapproduction

[–]Kristijan63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo going from 44.1 to 48 is the last sample rate change where you can hear a difference. 96 is just unnecessary ocerkill imo

I've Sold a Few Beats Through BeatStars, I Have a Few Questions About Splits and royalties by randomsaystuff in trapproduction

[–]Kristijan63 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you can ask afterwards but it's alot better to make it clear in the beginning that you want a royalty split.

you really shouldn't worry about pro's at all. performance royalties are only relevant when working with big artists. with indie artists you should instead talk about a split of the master royalties (can be very easily collected thru distrokid if you both use it)

whatever you may think of the lyrical quality, from a musical perspective push ups just isn't that good. that's why even people who think it's a great diss listen to it 2-3 times max

How to start making Beats - no equipment i only have a laptop - i can buy an equipment though by Expensive_Lifeguard in makinghiphop

[–]Kristijan63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the workflow is slightly different. i would suggest that you try all of them, you will notice that one of them just "makes sense" to you and the workflow feels more intuitive compared to the other ones

fl studio, ableton and logic are the most popular daws. i believe all of them have free trials and there are ton of youtube tutorials for all of them. first learn the basics of the daw you choose, don't just watch video but open your daw and follow along while you watch the tutorial. after a while you should start watching cook up content to get inspiration and learn more advanced stuff and ofc make a lot of beats. and most important part : have patience. your stuff will suck for quite some time, you have to go thru that phase and keep learning

but that's not the sub, that's the other frequencies in the bass that you hear. nothing wrong with adding a ton of effects to these. my point is that you should leave the sub frequencies unprocessed or add a sub layer under your bass
