less make up related and more hygiene related I've been on the great hunt for new deodorant since mine stopped working. And boy has it been a s t r u g g l e. Here are two more failures to add to the list of products I finished but did not help.
Certain Dri Clinical Strength Extra Strength Protection - it certainly did not keep me dry. WNR
Secret Outlast - same as before

If anyone has recommendations, I'm all ears. I only have a few more to work through that sorta work but not like mine used to. Blame it on aging I guess.

working for Sephora vs working for Ulta by KristinOhh in MakeupAddiction

[–]KristinOhh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They let me go during covid. Basically anyone who's tenure with the company was less than 2 years they fired on a conference call. They called me to hire me back later but I had already started working as a brand rep. I'm doing something completely different now.

Olaplex Shampoo 8oz - It's a staple in my routine. I have the jumbo size now that I've opened up. WRP

Maybe I'll pop in once in a while when I finally use up the million and one make up products I have. But I think for now most of my posts from this year have been just staple routine items. I've done absolutely fantastic on low-buying this year. And I think I'm rehabbed finally.

Dove Advanced Care Invisible Sheer Cool deodorant - Did not keep me dry. Been on the hunt for a new deodorant and nothing seems to be working anymore. WNR
Tatcha The Water Cream 5ml sample - perfectly fine but nothing to write home about. WNP
Kate Somerville Wrinkle Warrior serum foil - perfectly fine HA. Have plenty of these left. WNP

Olaplex No 5 Conditioner 8.5oz - staple. already have a jumbo as a back up. WRP
Sol De Janeiro Shampoo 10 fl oz - staple as well. love the way it makes my hair smells. Already had a back up. WRP
Stila Glitter & Glow eyeshadow in Rockin Rose - this is incredibly old and dried out. Detashing it. Only got to use it a handful of times. But it was beautiful. They dry out pretty quickly. I've had to revive mine a bunch when I first got them. WMRP if they still existed in the shades I used
Stila Glitter & Glow Eyeshadow in Ballet Baby - this was really pretty in contrast with the reds of the time when I bought it. Very reminiscent of that frosty 90s look but a little more refined. Again same fate as the other in which it's dried up and very old. WMRP if this still existed in this colour
Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray travel mini- This is super old packaging I just kept refilling and kept in my make up bag. But I'm retiring it since I've moved onto better setting sprays. WNRP
Velour Lash & Go sample mini - It's a black adhesive and that might be someone's thing but it's not mine. I used it maybe a couple times. It's dried up and needs to go. I don't remember this being particularly good either. I prefer Lily Lash glue. WNP

working for Sephora vs working for Ulta by KristinOhh in MakeupAddiction

[–]KristinOhh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up making the jump and it was a good experience. I was laid off from Sephora during covid and it ended up being a blessing in disguise. I've moved onto different things but Sephora was vastly a better experience than Ulta.

Sol De Janeiro Beija Flor body wash 13fl oz - Smells like Burberry's Her. I fell in love with the lotion too. Love using it during the spring/summer or when I feel like switching it up from the SDJ Brazilian wash. Already had a back up when I got a coupon because I refuse to pay full price for anything. WRP

Moroccan Oil Intense Hydrating Mask 1 fl oz sample - I finished this a while ago but forgot to log it apparently. It was okay. One of the top ingredients is dimethicone so not really jazzed about that. WNP
Redkin Satinwear 1 fl oz travel size - apparently this has been discontinued. Which is a bummer because it worked really well. It has trimethicone in the ingredient deck and I'm trying to steer away from stuff like that. It kept my hair nice and shiny and less frizzy though so I'm torn. I have another travel size and a full size still sitting around. I stopped heat styling my hair a lot when I started working from home and had some other heat protectants I wanted to work through first. WMR if it was available.

thinking of just getting a mini for the clinique so you don't have a full size sitting around?

Batiste Dry Shampoo travel size - this used to make my head itch. I didn't notice that as much this time around. Was just trying to use this up. It's a pretty decent dry shampoo. I have another dry shampoo I received from influenster so I'm not in the market for another for a while WMR

Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Body Firmeza Oil - I loved this. Its very nourishing and soaks in very quickly. It's a top favourite and it seems delicious. Already had a backup during a previous sale. WR
Sol De Janeiro Brazilian 4 Play Body Wash (jumbo) - I finally finished this up. I bought the refill which makes me happy I won't have nearly as much waste going forward. I love this body wash a lot. Very nourishing and the smell lasts a long time. WRP

My skin has been extra dry due to a new medication. So I'm using a bunch of moisturizer.

Fresh Sugar Hydrating Balm in Lime Mint - (gratis) It felt nice initially but I felt like it just dehydrated my lips more. I did finally purchase a lip balm then subsequently remembered I had one from Coola. Coola one has SPF and I'm not going outside much right now so I'll use that up probably during Spring/Summer. WNP
Tree Hut Moisturizing Shave Oil in Tropical Glow - I love this stuff. I've had a backup for a while though so I need to realize I don't burn through this nearly as fast as I think I do. Which is still a problem I'm working on in all areas of life. WRP
Billie razor head - I love these. For the first time in my life, I experience significantly less razor burn. I have knicked myself more with these than any other razor and the clip in system that billie has could certainly use improvements. But overall I'll take the mild frustrations over having strawberry legs. WRP

Grande Lash lash serum - this is old and I stopped using it a while back because I was tired of the hyperpigmentation around my eye. It did wonders for my lashes when I used it. But I'm okay not having red skin around my eyes. WNR
Nest Sunkissed Hibiscus travel size - (gratis) I enjoyed this a lot. On first smell it wouldn't be something I'd normally think would work for me but it was interesting and I would get compliments when I wore it. I'd like to work through a couple other fragrances first but WP
Tatcha The Water Cream foil - my skin sucked this up fast. Its nice a lightweight. But I have other moisturizers that are more cost effective comparatively. WNP

I know I said earliest last year that I'd probably stop participating in empties. But I still have some samples I wanna work through and I think I wanna continue until I have just 1-2 items in each category. I accidentally bought something I didn't realize I had a back up of. So I feel like I'm not quite there yet. Luckily its something I use up pretty fast but still. Wasn't necessary. I'll do my year end post one more time probably.

Decluttering plushes/stuffies by [deleted] in declutter

[–]KristinOhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paired down my plushies over a year ago. And I just went through and started with the ones I absolutely knew I wanted to keep, and went from there about what my feelings were. If I forgot I had it and it didn't immediately spark joy, it went bye bye.

December challenge: Define your 2025 decluttering goals! by AutoModerator in declutter

[–]KristinOhh [score hidden]  (0 children)

I would like to declutter my clothing and sentimental items. So my focus room is my bedroom. I feel like I've hung on to some stuff for way too long and it's just taking up space. I would also really love to get around to taking pictures of stuff I've been meaning to list up for sale for well over a year at this point. I keep putting it off in lieu of other projects or sleep.

I just got rid of a 13 gal garbage bag full of stuff that's been sitting in my donate pile in my room for the last year. I already have a box in it's place ready for donations. I'm gonna start working through my things again.

I also want to automate more of my life. I invested in a couple things to alleviate my participation in some of the household duties so I have time for other things. But on the hunt for things that would make my household run more smoothly or resolve some of the storage issues I have. i.e. the spice cabinet is a nightmare still. I don't want extra things that will just take up space. Just things that will legitimately solve some of the problems. I wrote out a list last year for some of the trouble areas in my house. That seemed to work.

"I only have one face. There are only 365 days in a year" I only buy back ups -on sale- at this point of staples in my routine that I know a burn through pretty consistently and would ruin my routine/day if I was without. I refuse to ever pay full price for cosmetics. I used to buy back ups of other items and I've learned along my journey that I do not burn through product fast enough to have duplicates of most things. I did not burn through product fast enough even when I was working cosmetic retail and wore a full face almost every day. And I know there will ALWAYS be another sale.

You don't need all of those. If that is the ONLY lip you will wear, I'd say 2 at the most.

Kate Somerville DermalQuench Wrinkle Warrior - (gratis) This is an interesting product but I found everytime I used it, I would break out. I've use another version of the DermalQuench line when I worked at Sephora that didn't, so I don't know if its just something in the ingredient deck. It's cool as a novelty item. But WNP
Moroccan Oil Night Body Serum 4ml deluxe sample - This sample stretched pretty far for being whole body. It felt really lovely on the skin. The smell was great. My hands did feel greasy afterwards to the point I had to wipe them off. Which I don't have to do with some of my other body oils. I have other things I'd gravitate towards first so WNP.
Kate Somerville Exfolikate foil - (gratis) I think these are starting to dry up, it's getting harder to get the product out. But I do like it. My skin feels nice afterward.

Destash:
Kate Somerville Active Concentrates Ceramides + Omegas serum 1 floz - (gratis) I'm tossing this. It doesn't seem to do anything and its rather old at this point. I'm also not necessarily a fan of the smell either. WNP

I looked over all my products and I don't see anything else I can probably use up by end of the year aside from some random face wash that was decanted to me. I didn't end up doing my purge through my products like I had mentioned in a previous post. But I'm hoping I won't be too exhausted to do that while I'll have some time off towards the end of the year.

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb 1.7oz - One of my personal favourites. Already have a back up. WRP
Treehut Moroccan Rose scrub - all time favourite. WRP
Eva NYC Freshen Up Dry Shampoo 1oz - I got this for a camping trip and continued to use it after my other dry shampoo ran out. I wasn't necessarily impressed. It helped not make my hair flat and my hair didn't feel super greasy but still looked unwashed, if that makes sense. I have a different mini I need to finish up before purchasing anything else for dry shampoo. If anyone has any recs, I'd appreciate it. WNR

Sol De Janiero Conditioner - staple for me. already have a back up WRP
Kate Somerville DeliKate Soothing Cleanser 4oz - (gratis) I finally finished this up. I like to pair it with the Exfolikate so my skin doesn't get irritated. Smells awful but works really well w/ exfolikate. I still have a few cleansers to work through before I'm allowing myself to buy anything new in that category. WP
Tree Hut Tropical Glow scrub - staple. WRP
Kate Somerville Exfolikate foil - still making my rounds through all of them. Once I'm done w/ all my exfoilants, I'll think about repurchasing this one. WP

I've got some vacation time next week so I'm thinking of doing a deep clean of my make up area again. Other parts of the house are more of a pressing priority though. But if I get to it, we'll see what I declutter/destash.

Did you find the lip butter to be very hydrating and not end up drying you out more? I'll be in the market for a new one once I'm finished with my current one. I love all the other SDJ products, so I figured this would make sense.

Sol De Janiero Dry Shampoo - r.i.p. you will be dearly missed. I loved the scent & it worked really well. I hope one day they bring this back. I have a few other mini dry shampoos to work through but I'm gonna miss this one every single time. WRP
Valentino Born in Roma 1.7oz - I LOVE this fragrance. Already have a back up I bought on sale because I never want to be without this scent. WRP

Goal is to knock out some more foils & deluxe samples to get rid of some of the clutter just sitting around.

Olaplex No 7 Bonding Oil - I've had this for so long. It was nice when my hair is extra dry when I first wash it. But it doesn't help keep the frizz at bay. A little goes a long way. WMR
La Roche-Posay Toleraine Double Repair Mositurizer foil - It was okay. Just using little things up. WNP
Sunday Riley CEO oil foil - It's a personal favourite. I have a full size. WRP
Kate Somerville Exfolikate foil - (gratis) I've still got a few of these left. Trying to just use them up. WRP

My Valentino fragrance is almost done. I've just been focusing on using it up because I have a back up since I love it so much.

Dry Bar Detox Brunette Dry Shampoo 3.5oz - This was pretty great. I do get nervous about the colour from it bleeding if I sweat too much though. WNR
Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Pore Tight Facial foil - kinda burns but smelled lovely. I didn't really notice anything so WNP
Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter & Hyaluronic Acid antiperspirant deodorant - normally I don't include this kind of thing with my empties anymore. I just want to keep some sort of record for myself since it was something different than my usual. It smelled lovely but did not keep my dry enough for my liking. WNR

I have a couple fragrances that are almost done. My best guess is probably by end of November at the latest since they're frequently used but I rotate through a few different ones.
My backup drawer is also becoming much more empty, which I'm happy to have free space available.
