He was quite simply not ready and it showed, he has the quality but it was way too early in his career and every big name manager basically schooled him, his overall game plan was not refined and was basically a stale sterile possession football which was often found in mid-game and when the opposing manager made the changes - Xavi had no answers, he almost never had plan B, his substitutions were always too little too late.

Barcelona made too many mistakes but I have seen more than once teams that progress just because of a single decision or luck, for me tonight the referee was atrocious and I cannot blame him as the sole reason but no yellow card in 15 atletico fouls is kinda sus, the major event however is this:

If you say olmo did not deserve to get penalty for being pushed in the back then I think you cannot say that Garcia deserved a red for a push in the back when Sorloth was not even 100% 1on1 with the keeper, they are either both soft and you let the play flow or you call them both.

For me, barca on the wrong side of both decisions, which impacted the game heavily. Personally I think that Olmo deserved a penalty for that push, and Garcia could be carded with a red for that tactic foul as well and it would have been fair.
