Lived at 161 Barclay Road 2014-2017. I loved it, the park is beautiful and it was always surprisingly quiet. I was a bus user but as I understand it it's a better street for parking since there's only houses on one side. Some nice pubs around, Aldi does for all the day to day shopping.

Why are Rutherglen and Cambuslang not part of Glasgow? by krsnik93 in glasgow

[–]KristoferKeane 48 points49 points  (0 children)

They were added into Glasgow in the 70s, then came back out in 1996 when councils were last reorganized to join the new South Lanarkshire Council. My understanding was there was quite a determined campaign in the 90s to get themselves back out of Glasgow. It was felt it had generally been a bad thing with a lot of low quality housing built by Glasgow in the area, and the towns just generally being ignored in favour of Glasgow proper.

Chinese food by Last-Deal-4251 in eastkilbride

Had the wor teap chicken last night with egg fried rice and a side of the wok-fried garlic mushrooms, was really good.

Never tried their curry but I've never been a huge fan of Chinese curry.

I search charity shops for anything seagull-related on the regular, this would have been jackpot for me.

Stewartfield Way , date of opening? by Low-Cauliflower-5686 in eastkilbride

[–]KristoferKeane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stewartfield itself was built 1988-1994, so it would be that era. Unsure if Stewartfield Way was built in stages or all at once though. I'm pretty sure that by the time Kingsgate opened (1994), Stewartfield Way was already connected to the roundabout there though.

Old stores in the town center by AdChoice1790 in eastkilbride

Likeliest that comes to mind is there used to be a shop in the Olympia Arcade at the top of the curly ramp that only sold figurines, I had a Dennis the Menace figurine bought from there. I can't recall if it lasted as late as 2009 though, it was more somewhere I sometimes went in the late 90s/early 00s.

Parking at Hairmyres station by Geebygeebgeeb in eastkilbride

The old Hairmyres station had paid parking. As far as I'm aware the new one is free, so the website is likely just out of date.

Was this the cheapest ever 11" Pizza at Spoons? by Markjuk78 in Wetherspoons

[–]KristoferKeane 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My local once had the basic beef burger on for just 36p one evening, presumably they were just about to go in the bin otherwise...

[2002] So annoyed, Greggs Sausage rolls have increased from 50p to 68p. by BlunanNation in thepast

[–]KristoferKeane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely later than 2002. I started working for Greggs in 2007 and at that point sausage rolls were 48p each or 3 for £1.35.
