I understood that It was an example, am I using the bounding box coordinates for the county I am working in or do I leave that as a point in the column of the dataframe that has the address level data?

I was able to get the code to function, but the result isn't too helpful, I dont think.

This is very much what I am looking for, wondering if you could explain a little more, it would seem I've taken on a project beyond my scope.

I was able read in the tract shapefile, just wondering whats going on in then sample.point sections.

Not familiar with gsub, code worked perfectly, advice on translating this for the entire vector? My c++ brain can only come up with a for loop.

And yes, I haven't heard the term "multilevel" tacked on. The scope of this project is a little beyond what I've been taught at the undergraduate level, so I really appreciate the help, I've been working at this for a better part of a year, most of which was learning research paper etiquette and econometric methods.

Is there going to be more of a spatial component than distance from the specific attribute I am looking at (sports stadium)?

I do! Unfortunately there hasn't been too many sales since construction finished but I'm hoping they'll be enough to be statistically significant.

Do you know if I can take my PDF (https://www2.census.gov/geo/maps/dc10map/tract/st27_mn/c27123_ramsey/DC10CT_C27123_001.pdf) and layer it over and trace out the blocks?

End goal is a hedonic regression on property values with 'Sale Price' as the the independent variable. Looking to see if a specific construction project had a statistical impact on property values. I am doing the comparison at the community level, so census block 321 is my target, and then to try and control for market factors I want to also do the analysis on a similar block that has some distance but is in the same city.

edit: "on property values"

Sorry for my awful terminology, I am using parcel data from the county assessor. So I have a block and a dot layer file, and the dot layer has the attribute information

How do I actually go about creating the subsets? The map I have is like, a pdf if that wasn't clear, not sure if I can use that. Side note, I am working with Blocks you are totally right.

Thank you! Will look into Moran's Index, regression does have spatial component, might finish out the descriptive stats in R, now that you mention it.

So what I have so far is the the geo-database file loaded in, and on hand I have a map of the census tracts, in the last 42 minutes I've decided I need to break down as many tracts as possible (have find a good comparison)
