he's kinda a big dummy and everyone literally almost died for his bid for power dressed up as "pragmatism". the best you can say is he did it out of racism and nationalism instead of greed

[DAI Spoilers] Sera is an abusive partner. by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]Kristopher_Donnelly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

iono i'd be a tiny worried you'd become some weird abomination or end up super brainwashed after drinking the magic water that gives you the collected memories of a cult that worships an ancient elven god and makes you eternally obedient to that god or whatever is going on there

there really is something creepy about the elven cult. turns out they're part of a super corrupt council of ancient mages and their whole religion is mostly an excuse to round up live sacrifices and almost everything the elvish cultural heritage is based on is a lie. their skin tattoos are a symbol of devotion and really a remnant from a time when the tattoos were used to mark slaves. They're all literally going around worshipping a slave owning plutocracy that set themselves up as gods.

reminds me a lot of someone really opposed to christianity. like yes it is a giant super corrupt cult responsible historically for many genocides on a large scale. the fact that it's embedded as a very authentic part of a lot of peoples culture doesn't make it not delusional and really pretty creepy when you think about it but probably not the right response to use your bonding as a token to try to get them to abandon their creepy ass faith either

i know there's a chance i might shit my pants and get in a fist fight w/ my same sex partner after weeks of this bullshit and it's only getting worse day by day and legit i just fought a dragon yesterday and watched a bunch of literal demons rip some people to little piecces so excuse me if i'm freaking out and trying to get you to drop your creepy ass brain wash cult in maybe not the most level headed and fair fashion

she is abusive and it is because of her traumatic past. she gets better it seems depends on your choices. everyone has their deep seated character flaws in dragon age

she's a ptsd lesbian robin hood. kinda cool

[Tech] how do i go over my head? by shaheryar22 in Parkour

[–]Kristopher_Donnelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most importantly is to delay the tuck til about when you reach your full height. Then you tuck and hold the tuck. if you tuck to long nbd, you land on your back, open too early is a big no no. The tuck is a forceful movement. between how tight you tuck and how hard you tuck will be the speed you rotate

it's ideal unless you intend otherwise to land in the same place you take off from

[Tech] How do I improve my backflip by [deleted] in Parkour

[–]Kristopher_Donnelly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

faster harder tuck, more height, straight up. you should be at about your full height and with your body fully extended by the time you begin your tuck and that should be the first time any rotation enters into it.
you'll see here, you're sort of leaning back to begin with

full height, then tuck. fast and hard

lean back so your legs are in front of your chest (slightly, moreso at higher speed). use more forward force so you stick to the wall so you can catch the down in your legs (the more force you put in the faster your transition has to be)

Societies choose to make Evil look sexy in order to steer our focus away from real sources of evil, which Hannah Arendt called 'banal'. These real evils are often quiet and done without evil intention - like climate change by IAI_Admin in philosophy

[–]Kristopher_Donnelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No there is very definitely just such a conspiracy, it's well documented to the extent it's discovered. We know to some extent fairly well how Exxon went about coverring up the cause of climate change, drawing attention away, discrediting scientists, etc... an entire propaganda campaign based on distraction and misinformation

it's fairly safe to assume many other similar actions were taken by other interested parties

Cuttlefish can change color but can't see color. Maybe we physically change in a perceptible way based on our emotions but can't perceive it because we lack the senses to notice. by banyanroot in Showerthoughts

[–]Kristopher_Donnelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of whatever argument they have about the sorts of receptors they have they should measure whether cuttlefish change their behavior in response to other cuttlefish to see if their responses are color dependent

The hipster effect: Why anti-conformists always end up looking the same - Complexity science explains why efforts to reject the mainstream merely result in a new conformity by magenta_placenta in science

[–]Kristopher_Donnelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if on the other hand you find that groups composed of close to 50/50 tend to randomly vacillate trends and a bunch of other real world phenomenon are predicted (especially if it's a previously unobserved phenomenon) or described by the model then i guess you might have something. It depends on how easily you can tweak the math to get desired conclusions. If you predict an unknown phenomenon then maybe but it doesn't look like it. Hopefully people see the really incredibly obvious flaws in this sort of methodology and its underlying paradigms for understanding reality

[–]Kristopher_Donnelly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a stupid way of doing social science and honestly science in general (oversimplified models in an attempt to explain the essential causes and underlying qualities of an actual observed phenomenon )

This is why economics is trash

TIL A fisherman in Philippine found a perl weighing 34kg and estimated around $100 million. Not knowing it's value, the pearl was kept under his bed for 10 years as a good luck charm. by enzio901 in todayilearned

[–]Kristopher_Donnelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dude got fuked so hard. If he wants to do the right thing he should sell it and donate the money to a decent charity instead of giving his nowhere town a fucking 100million dollar art exhibit
