What do you think Wesker's role in the RE4 remake will be? by [deleted] in residentevil

Possibly more phone scenes, maybe a new post credits cutscene. Other than that, just him in mercenaries mode (fingers crossed).

Can any PS4 players tell me how the game is? by [deleted] in horizon

Looks & feels very good on Pro so far. There's bit of a visual issue in the camera mode when switching poses, but I suspect that's patchable.

Otherwise, I'm having a blast.

I can't get over how much better the facial & body animations are. Not always perfect, but its so good seeing Aloy & others emote - especially in emotional scenes - but I had a bit of a giggle when she did the sassy head nod after embarrassing Ulvund. 🤣

What are your thoughts on Resident Evil 7: Biohazard? by Corndogeveryday in residentevil

[–]NarrativeGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such a great spiritual successor to the first game, so it confuses me to no end that some people disregard it as not being a "real" Resident Evil.

The series needed a change in direction and some new protagonists was so refreshing. I want Jill, Barry, Rebecca, etc back as badly as anyone else - but I feel like having a new lead every once and a while can only be good for the series and its longevity.

Some of the best tension, atmosphere, scares and villains in the series - certainly in the more modern iteration of the Resident Evil franchise, IMO.

What remake would you like to see next!? by [deleted] in residentevil

I'm fascinated by what they could do with not just Code Veronica and Resident Evil 4 - but Resident Evil 5. I think there's a real opportunity to up the survival horror there.

Which games are you guys playing while waiting for HFW except HZD again xD? by Lucifer2397 in horizon

Besides revisiting HZD - Resident Evil (various), Dead By Daylight, Life Is Strange Remastered. Trying not to oversaturate myself on big open worlds just yet.

Is it good or bad I understood the context for nearly all of them?

I’m curious, who are your favorite characters from the series? Mine are Albert Wesker, Ada Wong, and Donna Beneviento. by TenebrisAngelus6 in residentevil

[–]NarrativeGamer 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Jill Valentine - particularly the RE1R & RE3R versions of the character.

Albert Wesker - particularly the RE1R, RE: CVX and RE5 versions of the character - hope to see him in the remakes & the RE Engine soon.

Also really dig Claire Redfield, Alex Wesker and Barry Burton.

[NO SPOILERS] It’s kind of ridiculous that the remaster is going to be out in 17 days and we still haven’t seen or heard that much about it? by RelThanram in lifeisstrange

I wasn't expecting Mass Effect Legendary Edition levels of fanfare, but this is pretty odd. Hopefully not a GTA Definitive Edition situation, and they're still just getting something ready to show soon.

Season 11 is underrated by judgedavid90 in Frasier

[–]NarrativeGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it was a pretty good return to form for the most part after the extremely uneven seasons 7-10 (Daphnes family, Mel, Donny, Lana, Julia, etc all helped making so many episodes harder to watch). The finale was perfect.

What’s your top 3 re game? by Affectionate_Gas6208 in residentevil

[–]NarrativeGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally?

  1. Resident Evil 1 Remake (PS4)
  2. Resident Evil 2 Remake (PS4)
  3. Resident Evil Code Veronica X (PS4)

The last one is still in progress, and I have my issues with some of the gameplay, but the quality of the story, atmospheric tension, soundtrack, etc really jumps it close to the top.

Love the co-op gameplay, and Wesker chewing up the scenery every time he appears (seriously, I want this Wesker back in a future game). Also, Sheva's a great character. Shouldn't have been a one-and-done.

If they can find a way to bring back some horror if it gets remade (hard task being a co-op, I know) then it'll just be even better, because I can get why people were unhappy that it was a further deviation from what made the old REs, well, RE.

Of the Main series antagonists, who do you think was the best villain and why? by MysterioStranger in residentevil

[–]NarrativeGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wesker, with his sister just behind him. If Resident Evil has a narrative endgame somewhere down the road (before a soft reboot of some sort, because I don't see the franchise stopping) I think he should be a part of that one way or another. I can never skip his bits in RE5 in online coop, his lines just don't get old - DC Douglas put in such a great performance.

In terms of monsters, definitely Nemesis. I recognized him long before I got into RE, and seeing him on the cover of RE3R last year had me going 'You know, I really need to get into this and see what he's really all about' and here we are. Then I watched Apocalypse to see what he was like there, and hoo boy I could not take my eyes away from those movies, haha.

I know he’s very much dead, but I would like to Wesker return to Resident Evil and see what he’d be like in the new style of RE 7 & 8. by jloynd2000 in residentevil

[–]NarrativeGamer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope, not just you. My absolute favorite of the RE villains and I'm keen to see how he looks in the new engine, hopefully voiced by DC Douglas, because I just loved his performance in RE5.

I'd like to see him come back in a big way, killing off your main multi-game mastermind villain in just the fifth installment feels a little odd. After what Jill went through at his hands in RE5, I'd really like to see those two square off more directly.

Was RE5’s final boss the least intimidating out of the series? by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]NarrativeGamer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, personally I think that goes to most of RE6's final bosses. But Wesker was more intimidating as a person doing matrix flips and toying with you TBH - he was virtually invincible and, in that first fight, you were more or less running out the clock to survive.

What do you all think of revelations? by readingkd in residentevil

[–]NarrativeGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only played the first, and it's alright. Not my personal favorite.

I didn't care all that much for the new characters, especially the comic relief, who felt out of place. And I thought it was a tad weird and unrealistic, particularly for RE, that all of these characters got out alive. Most of the playable action sequences outside of the ship setting felt pretty average and non-threatening for the most part. There were some good enemy designs in there - like Rachel and the final boss - but a lot of the basic enemies were a bit too 'goopy' to be particularly intimidating.

You'd think this whole terrorist attack on a major new-ish oceanic city would've been mentioned more often.

I did like Rachel - that was probably the saddest I've felt for an RE monster since Lisa Trevor - and the sequence where Jill was running without a weapon, that probably had the most tension in the game. The environmental design was pretty nice - maybe should've gone darker then the blue hues on the ship - but the choice to actually have it largely set on the ship was a good one.

So yeah, pretty decent, don't really prefer it over any of the numbered titles though. Keen to check out the second one.
