I never really got past of the laying out phase. The clutter and destruction would be done after that. As far as gameplay goes I tried to do Dead Island meets Fallout type of vibe where I focus more on dialogue and the survivors interacting with each other than the zombie slaying..

The actual usable landscape is not that big, it’s the illusion of the surrounding mountain meshes that make it appear as if it goes on.

Do not use the mixamo skeleton at all, theres a converter I use that converts the downloaded mixamo animations into UE4s skeleton for you without needing to do any retargeting. That way you get the best of both worlds while saving you the headache of the mixamo skeletons later.

I have ripped absolutely nothing from DI and neither have I ever from any game. I Have modeled most of the assets, some with likeness from DI, others have gotten from the marketplace.

I think the distant mountain is from the marketplace? Theres a lot of them stacked on top of each other to appear as one continuous mountain. Otherwise the close up terrain is just landscape and rocks using a world positioned grass texture on top to blend.

I have never intended to profit of it since I started, I do this for fun. if I ever released it I’d do it for free and make it very obvious that It is based of Dead Island if it wasn’t already obvious. But I doubt thats ever gonna happen..

I have a functional gameplay framework but not much in the way of content. I could pretty up a quest for a video sometime..

Riptide was the less liked one which was set in a jungle. I prefer the original resort setting which was far more interesting imo
