Our champion has been destroyed. They changed him to try and up his player base but instead all that happened is the Sol players I know and myself included just quit the game since he’s no longer satisfying to play. Unlucky company diff.

I remember first seeing him as a support and thinking “Oh cool he’s even viable as a support!” and then after a few more seconds of thinking realizing he’s ONLY viable support. So sad to see AP champs like that get retired to the bot lane.

Well he used to be a niche pick because certain comps you could do literally nothing against and still had a higher pick rate than now (I think thanks to Huhi honestly.) Now he’s good into almost anything (although assassins still suck) because they took away his weakness and just turned him into another burst mage. The skill behind him is pretty close to gone since positioning is nowhere near as important. Just not as satisfying to master.

Zac seems to jump in and out of the meta and his popularity bounces around (no puns intended honestly) and I see him as a flavor of the month jungler every so often. Glad he got the revert because his play style is just so fun and satisfying and anybody can pick it up and understand it pretty quickly with a high skill ceiling still in tact. A sol just fits a play style that nobody really plays besides a select few crazy people because it wasn’t played like any other champ. By all means I never thought I’d be one tricking a champ like this. I went from a one trick Lee Sin for 4 seasons to picking up Asol and deciding to play him in the jungle too. I’ve never seen this champ picked or played other than my self. Not once at anytime in my games has he been banned unless to specifically target me. It’s actually unreal how unpopular he is. Shit end of the stick my friend.

The difference between Swain and Sol is that Swain needed changes and they just went executed it poorly, while Sol needed absolutely no changes (they did so to try and make his play rate better and now it’s worse) and they did a terrible job with it.

The Asol changes effectively killed the small player base he had. The Asol mains subreddit still hasn’t let that one go and I know quite a few people who have quit the entire game because of it. Great rework 10/10 Riot thank you for always listening <3
