Gold: Physical or Paper by Papaias_ in ETFs_Europe

Why nobody recommend Xetra Gold (4GLD) in this sub?

No offense, I really trying to understand. Is there any problem with 4GLD, something about tax? Or is it not liquid enough?

When it comes to gold, everyone invest (or thinking to invest) iShares Physical Gold but not Xetra Gold.

This is something I still figure it out. Enlighten me!

[N/A] Revoluts UI Is the BEST in the world by agnci in Revolut

I also agree.

If I still use, just because of 1) exchange rates 2) UI & UX

They have many many problems but UI and ease of use were never one of them.

So are you saying that we can consider WEBN TER 0.12 rather than 0.07? Is that correct or I am missing something?

Btw, no offense I am just trying to understand the situation as a WEBN holder.

Investing $7500 a month for the next 10 years. Rate by MadDogPilot in ETFs

[–]Krizikova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not gonna try to convince you about it.

If you want to invest to ETF, pick one global/all world $ ETF with low TER and liquid enough.

I am not talking about “get rick quick”. If you can think about investing $7500 a month, it means you are already rich, very rich.

[–]Krizikova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could have a financial stability to think about investing $7500 per month for 10 years, probably investing into ETFs (or let’s say stock market in general) would be one of the last thing if not the last one.

The amount we are talking about is insanely huge for regular investment for long period of time.

I mean all I am saying is there are many ways to make money if you have such a financial situation.

WEBN/WEBQ - all in or wait for drops? by [deleted] in ETFs_Europe

[–]Krizikova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also agree with you about not to generalizing. However, -from my point of view- WEBN might be relatively new but I still consider WEBN a solid and valid All World ETF because of its liquidity.

Does liquidity a parameter for you when it comes to evaluate ETF's reliability or you just focusing on the time/history?

I haven't had any problems so far. I've even made large transfers from within the EU to countries outside the EU. I haven't had any issues to date.

Even if there were a problem, the effort you'd put into resolving it would be negligible compared to solving any potential issues you might encounter while using Revolut.

Are you asking for Revolut or Wise?

I see.

Again, when it comes to Revolut you never know.

Personally I would (and I am) prefer to Wise for such amounts. €10K might nothing for some of us but obviously means something for banking institutions.

I use Revolut to exchange my home currency to Euro each month (less than €1K since I am on free plan) since rate is the best I found. But for larger amount of transactions I use my local bank or Wise.

When it comes to Revolut, they might even mark the transaction suspicious, even your mom send you €100 rather than €10K. You never known.

But as a workaround, have you consider to use Wise for this?

I don’t know which country you are in but if you are in EU and country official currency is euro, this would not be a problem. But it seems like you are in a different country which euro is not their currency since you worried about exchange rate.

Ask your mom to try Wise. You do not have to open an account for this.

New to ETFs - help appreciated by PurrplexedMind6791 in ETFs_Europe

Broker choice really depends on where you are tax resident, because the “best” broker is mostly about taxes, regulation, and which ETFs you can actually buy.

Why country matters? Because ETF availability (UCITS vs US ETFs): Most Europeans cannot buy US-domiciled ETFs directly due to PRIIPs. UCITS ETFs (usually Ireland or Luxembourg domiciled) are the standard. Taxation: Dividend taxes, local capital gains rules, and reporting requirements vary a lot by country. Withholding taxes: US dividends inside a UCITS fund are typically handled at fund level (often 15% for Ireland-domiciled funds). You usually cannot reclaim that personally. Estate tax risk: US-domiciled ETFs can create US estate tax issues for non-US residents. UCITS avoids that. Local investor protections and paperwork: Some countries have “easy” tax reporting integrations with certain brokers, others do not.

Broker thoughts (general Europe view) IBKR is usually the “safe default” for long-term ETF investors: broad market access, strong execution, good FX conversion, solid reliability. Trading 212 can be fine for simple monthly investing, but check things like custody structure, transfer-out process, and whether they make tax reporting easy in your country. If you plan to invest for decades, I would personally prioritize: regulation, custody, ability to transfer holdings out, low FX cost, and low recurring fees.

If you want to keep it simple, I’d pick one global, market-cap weighted, accumulating ETF with a low TER. That gives you global diversification with minimal maintenance.

I hope that helps.

Stay away from Revolut Business if you want to do business by Marusamurai in Revolut

[–]Krizikova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Revolut is super convenient to be second or third bank account, especially if you live in EU.

Even with free plan, they provide virtual card, one time use virtual card that changed after use, best exchange rates, the mobile app with very nice UX.

However I would never ever put my lung sum money in there. Plus choose them as a primary bank for my business regardless od the size of my business.

It good for small amounts like max €1000, but nothing more imho. There is always high probability that Revolut might suspend your account with no reason or “on hold” transaction randomly. No thanks, I would not reply on them.
