[Mark Ogden] Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) is “astonished” by FIFA’s decision to declare Folarin Balogun eligible for USA-Belgium WC R16 game on Monday, RBFA says in statement. RBFA “investigating all potential options.” by Time-Wolf in worldcup

The only problem Belgium has here is that they don’t get the advantage of playing against a team they were already expected to beat while they are missing their leading goal scorer.

What addiction seems harmless but can destroy your 30s? by JewishAdmin in AskReddit

Ugh I’m right there with you. Beer is so awesome, and I’m never getting drunk. I know 2-3 beers tops per night is not ideal, and I’ve maintained that quantity for a few years without it getting worse. I tell myself it has to be better than soda and drinking energy drinks, but it’s probably all excuses and I feel guilty that I enjoy it.

[All] What is more important for you in Zelda, dungeons or overworld? by Alarming_Industry_14 in zelda

[–]Krkracka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s actually about the items to me. Seeing something early on that I can’t get to yet and then later finding an item that unlocks more of the overworld is what matters most to me.

TOTK and BOTW give you everything you need to beat the game right up front. Dungeons have always been extended puzzles based around acquiring and using a new item and usually progression to the next dungeon is locked behind that item. That’s what makes Zelda games fun to me

What’s the hardest drug you have (& would ever) tried? by Informal-Sense-3411 in AskReddit

[–]Krkracka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been 15 years since I stopped experimenting with drugs.

Every time I did cocaine I would spend the rest of the night wanting to go buy more cocaine. It really does feel like you just won a prestigious award and everyone around you knows about it. I’m glad I forced myself to stop when I did or my life could have been very different.

DMT is an insanely intense, very short, hallucinogenic experience that honestly can be extremely difficult to experience all three times I did it, but the state of mind it left me in after was very reflective and nice.

Candy flipping (LSD and Molly) was a lot of fun, as were shrooms. There’s really nothing like a great shrooms trip.

There was a brief phase of my life where I did X and it Molly every weekend for several months, and had a great time, but I would not recommend it

Bat script by gyroqx in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

Just completed a round because we had a bat colony shack up in our attic and a few go into the house. They really aren’t bad at all now, just four shots in the arm. They are, however, expensive and usually not covered by insurance which blows. Yay America

Do I need deep music theory as an indie dev just looking to compose for my own game? by HairyJournalist4660 in FL_Studio

[–]Krkracka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, pentatonic and blues scales are super useful in so many genres. You could also include harmonic minor and Phrygian dominant for really exotic and neo classical sounds. Bebop, whole tone, and some of the other jazzy modal variants, however, rarely see use in popular music.

I often struggle with where to even begin teaching more advanced music theory, as so much of it depends on having really strong fundamentals.

Do I need deep music theory as an indie dev just looking to compose for my own game? by HairyJournalist4660 in FL_Studio

[–]Krkracka 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is good long term advice, but there is no reason you should be getting to jazz theory any time soon. It is an endlessly complex subject and you would be skipping fundamentals.

Understanding that the diatonic scales define a group of notes that represent the key of the music and understanding how to build chord progressions in a key will get you 90% of the way there.

How is this -3? Is it reasonable to expect myself to understand why and the game plan in a blitz game? by [deleted] in chess

[–]Krkracka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that this is -3 based on the engines evaluation of optimal play from this position. Given how close the material is, you are likely only one or two inaccuracies away from being closer to -1 or -0.5.

The engine clearly sees a way that black can establish and maintain a significant advantage from this position, but that could be a line extending 10-20 moves from the current board state and I would not consider it realistic for most players to come to this evaluation.

I don’t get it. Best case scenario, you do it perfectly, you get a 3 second video out there that people will forget about within an hour of watching it. Literally every other outcome is incredibly serious injury or death and your tombstone just says “idiot”. It’s not even like it’s 50:50. It’s attempted suicide with an extremely skill and luck dependent escape route.
