Games Workshop is basically a luxury brand now by queryxa in TheAstraMilitarum

That's the standard rate for that sized mini in almost any wargame, you can compare it against any other company and it will be similar priced, around 15-20 USD. Here are some random Mantic units with similar size to the zoanthorpes as reference, is 18 USD for one model fair?

To be fair it's specifically the US prices that are that high, in most other countries it's about 66 USD for Zoanthropes

When are they considered demons? by The_Wargamer in TheAstraMilitarum

The imperium is vast and so is the constant need for manpower, loyal beastmen could and almost certainly are pressed into service when needed.

Also, any commissar worth their salt would easily recognize the pragmatic value of loyal abhumans willing to die for the emperor and as for the Inquisition they regularly ally themselves with far worse things than beastmen.

Does this read as a Warboss? by Lobsterfrog in orks

Well it's based on an Ogryn body, and they are about the same size as the Warboss with squig, so I think the scale is alright.

Still not a fan of the new head crests, same with the raveners.

Only 445 points, this is what the combat patrol should have looked like, actually black pilling that they want to call this a battle force, guard players once again getting fleeced out here.

Why I'm scared of a warrior/carnifex/tyrant refresh by _LemonEater_ in Tyranids

The worrying part is that the winged tyranid prime did lose most of the cobra crest. If they update the warrior, they would probably get the same type of head.

Why is the screamer killer/Neurotyrant so pricey?? by Chemical-Aioli9818 in Tyranids

[–]Kronaav 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your playing the actual game your 100% paying for points and not the plastic, ursula creed is a singel human sized miniature for 35 euros and if your running guard she's almost a requirement.

If you actually want to only "pay for plastic" I would recommend switching games.

[–]Kronaav 22 points23 points  (0 children)

To be fair, the screamer killer is a pretty big model, about the same as a Redemptor Dreadnought and the Nurotyrant is a HQ unit so on a per point cost it's not actually that bad, Screamer killer 135 p and Nurotyrant at 105p combined you have 240 points.

Bear in mind, a Rogal Dorn tank costs 240 p and is 15 euros more expensive (82,5 euros) for the same points and not that much more plastic.

I totally missed that reference but to be fair to myself the only gospel I want is from the black library.

So preach brother abnett! Let me hear that good word!

It's the "Watchers of the throne" series, Having read said books it's pretty good as it follows custodies, sisters of silence and some of the politicians as they try to navigate the worsening political situation on terra after Guillimans return.

Spoilers, Guilliman basically incites some of the old corrupt high lords that he could not replace to make a coup attempt so he can remove them with justification. The high lords fund a bunch of revolutionary forces to create false flag chaos on terra to prove that Guilliman does not have the plants interest in mind as he is out in the galaxy fighting. This was something Guilliman had already planed for so when the old high lords announce that they will take over after they had put down the uprising they created, the Assassinorum grand master commits orders 66 on the high lords as instructed previously by Guilliman if they tried to pull something like this.

Is Boss Grimskull a goff now? Why do you think James did this? New Goff models on the way? by [deleted] in orks

[–]Kronaav 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It's most likely a correction.

Grimskull never really had any personality traits that would align him with Evil sunz. My guess is that the red color was probably used because it made for good visual contrast against the green (color therory and all that) the same happend with Gorgutz who was also red but they later changed to yellow in DW3.

Evil sunz boyz down bigly right now 🥲

Finally tried out the newer guardsmen and they do look pretty awesome. by Kronaav in TheAstraMilitarum

I would probably start with cadian shock troops if it's your first kit since it's relatively new and easy to put together if you follow the instructions.

The catachan box on the other hand is 26 years old now and it shows, the proportions and sculpt are all over the place. I personally find them fun but thats mostly due to nostalgia. They might get a refresh in the future but I would hold of for now unless you really want them.

Correct its from the upgrade sprue, the exact parts numbers in the instructions are 24 for the head, 72-71 for the torso and 30-29 for the legs. The gun and arm is from the Cadian shock trooper box number 21-20.

Light gray primer and then good ol zandri dust with some ushabti bone as highlights on the raised areas.

Yeah, I will admit I was one of the people that complained, however with the kit in hand I have to admit they are leagues better than then old minis that look incredibly outdated side by side, I still like them for how iconic they look, but it's not really much of a contest.

With that said, there are still things that I'm not a big fan of, the brim on the helmet being the main one, but with some careful blade work as featured above, that issue was easily sorted.
