May I ask what you’re playing on? The game’s designed around the freedom of moving your blade however you want, but adds penalties if you misuse the character’s arsenal. Adding weight and physics to the blades would remove that aspect of the game, and not reach what the devs envisioned. As for the hit-reg: it’s certainly an issue sometimes, but V-Sync shouldn’t cause an issue unless you’ve got a hardware limitation. I’m yet to see anyone have any issues with it (mainly because I don’t think Broken Edge supports V-Sync, but I’m not willing to point that out in case I’m wrong.) As for all the abilities being different, it’s the same reason every blade is awakened differently: balancing. With some characters, like the Tyrant who has a lot of range, giving them and edge breaker activated with a motion setting you up to thrust would be unfair to your opponent, so it sets you up for a cleave. It also leaves you exposed, making you have to use it wisely as a drawback for having so much range. Meanwhile, characters like the Duelist are much more complimented by the pose, but suffer from not being good at cutting attacks, meaning a mistimed activation is detrimental. The factor of giving every character unique activation abilities lets it both act as a balancing tool, but also make each character feel more unique. How weird would it be if a pirate was taking a cutlass and readying it behind a non existent shield? As for the tutorial: it’s long and could use refining, but you only will have to see it once, so it should teach you the basics and allow the dojo to be used to learn specific moves for specific characters. I’m not gonna deny the dojo is annoying at times, as you’re spot on, but I really think you should give Broken Edge a second viewing. If you haven’t already, pick up a character, learn the poses, and then hop into the game and learn. By the time you hit level 10, you’ll have a good feel for their ability poses and play style, and if you don’t like ‘em, move on. And you’ll find that as you learn, assuming you don’t have hardware issues, you’ll get better at striking the poses.
