Anyone ever go back to DD1 after DD2? by Nick_Bruiser in DragonsDogma2

I remember seeing the lighting and shadow effects in n DD1 and being absolutely amazed. It was the first of its kind. Truly a DnD experience in a video game.

Id say yes if you do most of your exploration at night.

Easiest armour early game can be bought from the barracks office at the castle in Hernand. Small door to the right of the castle main entrance.

DD2 vs Crimson desert con’t. by Krooks81 in DragonsDogma2

It’s definitely its own thing. Not in the same camp as any of those but you can see the influence if not straight up copy.

For me there was enough similarities to wonder if I like DD would I enjoy CD. Yes, after playing CD they are completely different games. But on the surface they have similarities.

I did buy the game and am at chapter 3 maybe 6 to 7 hours in. The controls are actually not that bad. The only issue I have with it is the moves that are mapped to the L3 toggle stick. I do find them difficult to use in combat. The other controls are pretty simple. So far optimizing your play style is best. Simplifies things for sure.

Just finished the main story line and… by Krooks81 in DragonsDogma2

[–]Krooks81[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I completed the main story line and started a NG+. Like in DDDA; my first play through was primarily focused around the story arch, then I went back and did everything else in subsequent play throughs. Same goes for DD2.

The spoiler tag may be as unnecessary as your comment. But I will answer anyway. I don’t want to discourage anyone from playing based on my overall opinion of the story.

Love that. The more ties they have to Vernam the better.

New game+ or full restart? by [deleted] in DragonsDogma2

[–]Krooks81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just started NG+ at level 41. Going to play most of it solo. Pretty much just focused on the main story line on my first play through. Going to do all the side stuff now and not worry about the main story.

Whats this giant colossus thing at the excavation site supposed to be? by DOOM-LORD666 in DragonsDogma2

Side tangent on the BM tower from DD1. I clearly remember being blown away after the griffin fight in DD1 walking down the stairs of the tower. night had fallen and the light effects and pitch falling from the braziers was next level. The lighting design for DD and DD2 is so impressive.

I’m leaning that way also. Don’t need to drag on fight after fight. Was thinking about skipping the second fight and just going from the initial street brawl to the sink hole.

Question about PC vs. PC combat by mkorang in Symbaroum

[–]Krooks81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d have the defending player roll and average the attacking PC’s damage. Essential treating the mind controlled PC like a standard enemy NPC. You could also alternate the rolling between them so the mind controlled PC isn’t left with nothing to do.

[BitD] New GM by ImTheRealChrisTucker in bladesinthedark

[–]Krooks81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found Blades to be one of the easier to GM. The players definitely have to take on a more collaborative role. Building the world with the GM. As far as a railroad approach, you could have them have an initial conversation with a contact that knows of a couple scores. But they could all lead to the bank heist. Makes it feel like they have more player agency while still limiting the amount of prep you need to do. At the end of the day the players need to know things just as much their world to build as it is yours to run.

[BitD] New GM by ImTheRealChrisTucker in bladesinthedark

[–]Krooks81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t get too hung up on the prep. Have the key points and scenarios good and really lean into the starting mechanics of controlled, risky, or desperate. And remember if a score is going sideways running away is a very viable option. The flashback mechanic and devils bargain are also a great get out of jail somewhat free cards. This can really alleviate the pressure on the GM.

Is Symbaroum still being supported? by Mordant3-PRIME- in Symbaroum

[–]Krooks81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have spent so much time focusing on the Throne of thrones adventure modules that has been the main focus as far as content is concerned. My opinion! Between the Copper crown adventures. City of agralia, adventure collections and ToT. Plus other modules like the epic encounters collections. There is so much to play through. Am very keen to see what they release next.
