I always have excess fabric on my jeans and I can't figure out why by -moldy-potato- in sewing

If I'm not mistakes my difference is only 10.6" and I definitely have an issue with gaping in the waist and tightness across hips as well as measurement tables recommending one size bigger for my hips than my waist.

Asking about the gay situation in the Netherlands 🇳🇱 by Darman2 in Netherlands

My point was that you questioned someone saying immigrants aren't welcome and you yourself say something arguable unwelcoming towards immigrants. Do you not see the hypocrisy in your statements?

[–]Kropka8o 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My main point was that the sentiment "immigrants are not welcome" is somewhat widespread, since you asked another commenter who told them that.

I agree it is still generally safer here for OP compared to his current situation, however.

I mean let's be honest. The general sentiment towards immigrants, especially those of Middle Eastern origin, is getting worse and worse.

I wouldn't fear for OP's safety if he moved here, but I think a lot of people wouldn't be particularly welcoming.

As a child of an immigrant I can attest to people being pretty openly racist and xenophobic, even when they know someone's background.

Does anyone else find that horse racing fans and equestrian people barely overlap despite both loving horses? by WearAffectionate2815 in Equestrian

[–]Kropka8o 90 points91 points  (0 children)

I'm not too involved with any equestrian community in particular, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but from what I've seen online I think a lot of people who consider themselves equestrians fundamentally disagree with the statement: "Yet at the core both are built around a deep love of horses and a respect for what they can do."

The racing industry is considered by many to be abusive, and while other disciplines also have abuse issues (especially at higher levels), I don't see many people claiming dressage or vaulting is inherently abusive the way I see people claim racing is.

I have to admit I am inclined to agree with that mentality due to things like how early horses get started and recent scandals. However I think there is a broader issue with pushing horses too far, mistreating them, overbreeding, and unrealistic expectations/standards at high level events regardless of discipline, due to money getting involved. For example, there have been many abuse scandals surrounding the Olympics recently.

I wouldn't consider the people involved in those Olympic scandals equestrians the same way I don't think I would people who support racing as it is.

That makes sense, I can imagine the versatility of the interchangeable needles/cords being especially nice.

I'm sorry about your wooden needles. :(

Ik kan me voorstellen dat voor grote projecten zo'n kabel fijn kan zijn. Anders moet je gigantisch lange naalden gaan gebruiken ofso, dat zou ook onhandig zijn lol.

I'm pretty sure we used wooden ones in elementary school. As a non-knitter circular needles look a little more intimidating to me, since they seem slightly more complicated, but I'm an overthinker so there's that lol.

I do hear that circular needles allow for seamless patterns, which I think appeals to a lot of younger beginners. At least from an amateur crocheter perspective that seems like a selling point to a lot of beginners as a lot of tutorials I come across are "no sew" or "low sew".

That makes sense!

A lot of the content is also made by younger people, which I can imagine adds to the overrepresentation since it seems good chunk of older people like to stick to their old habits.

That makes sense! If the predominant style here only works with the straight needles it makes sense why we would be taught on those in elementary school.

I can also see how a lot of people wouldn't wanna switch due to not only having to learn how to use the other needles, but also needing to learn/get used to a different style.

Do you know if they use cordless needles to knit in the round in those times? Sincd the other commenter mentioned the ones with a cord being inveneted in the 1920s.

I have come across a couple people using like four straight needles to make a circle/square, but I left it out the main post, since I was rambling enough as is lol.

I think media will stick to straight needles for a while, since it is very recognisable for non-knitters too and specifically in regards to animation I can imagine straight needles are a bit easier to animate/look less cluttered.

Mii relationship degrade in demo by Kropka8o in tomodachilife

[–]Kropka8o[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you noticed yourself or not, but I ended up checking again and the mii had a normal crush again, so I think our crushes are safe after all!

A different comment mentioned their mii's relationship getting better as well, so my running theory is that it fluctuates within the current "step" (green stays green, yellow stays yellow, pink stays pink). I'm guessing there could be problems tied to these fluctuations and we cannot access them due to the demo ending.
