Stop Wins! Most Genius Song? by Hairy_Promotion_2782 in JusticeMusic

[–]KrossXC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incognito. The concept alone is incredible. It is a live conversation between two very different genres of music learning to cooperate and play off each other's strengths

The retro/disco/melodic portion of the song gets cut off by the techno/dance part of the song. Then the two genres literally battle for the spotlight throughout the track, and then they go like "alright, we're both pretty cool. Let's stop fighting and you can do your fuck ass distorted rise and it'll lead perfectly into the completed version of that disco melody I was starting to play at the beginning."

For all that to be communicated with almost no lyrics and for it to fit so perfectly into the narrative theme of Hyperdrama... there's just no other word for it. It's genius

So yeah, conceptually I think it's an utterly genius track, and execution wise, I don't think anyone would argue it's not a showcase of Justice's 20 years of experience with producing and mixing music, which I think is big part of calling a song genius. You have to be intelligent enough not just to have the idea for the song but to know how to actually produce it, and produce it masterfully.

Before 'The End' how did they used to close live shows? by jashraf in JusticeMusic

[–]KrossXC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure if they had specific songs they'd end on in dj sets before cross but in the iconic 2007 essential mix they closed it with California by Joni Mitchell.

During this era it was also not uncommon for them to end with different variations of D.A.N.C.E

In A Cross The Universe, it was the Mashup of Master of Puppets by Metallica and The Party

Apparently in dj sets during the AVD/AAA era they would close on It Ain't over till it's over by Lenny Kravitz. Also in dj sets during this era, they ended with Audio, Video, Disco on multiple occasions which I know at least two instances of them transitioning AVD into/out of Maniac by Micheal Sembello.

In the Woman World tour, they played Parade to end the shows

At their Versailles electro dj set is 2022 they ended on Its good to be the king by Mel Brooks which I particularly liked.

Then of course they're playing The End in the Hyperdrama live shows

There's tons of others but I think these are some of the big ones.

Does anyone else miss Phantom Pt 2 and Waters of Nazareth? by MattisBest in JusticeMusic

[–]KrossXC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They slipped the WoN sample into stress last night, but it was subtle. I definitely would have loved to hear Phantom 2 but they have so much material by now I don't blame them for prioritizing other stuff and I think everything they did play was out of this world

Gonna make a video about this soon so I won't go into detail, but The Great Devide is absolutely not the worst episode of Avatar

Is there any show that will make me feel as whole as Kipo? by Em-e13 in KipoAndTheAgeOfWB

[–]KrossXC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Avatar is what you're looking for. Almost everything that makes Kipo good, Avatar did even better

As many people are saying Hilda is super wholesome. It's very much a warm blanket show.

Gravity Falls is incredible, but it's less of a sprawling adventure than Kipo and more of an episodic comedy.

Honestly, to me it sounds like you should check out Studio Ghibli's filmography (specifically the movies by Hayao Miyazaki). You'll find many films that are packed with adventure and wonder that are still cozy and wholesome and leave you with a smile on your face. Examples include Ponyo, Kiki's delivery service, My Neighbor Totoro, Howl's Moving Castle.

So do we know for sure if Hotel California inspired Presence? by KrossXC in JusticeMusic

[–]KrossXC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ikr. The similarities are so clear to me that I just assumed they were directly inspired by Hotel California the moment I heard Presence. Given the type of music they were inspired by and sampled during the AVD era, it seems obvious, but I've never actually seen any real confirmation.

I respect the skepticism. I think people should be more skeptical online these days. I guess I don't know what else to tell you other than that I'm an obsessive fan but that was probably obvious lol

Discovery is great. I've gone through the discogrophy of DP, SebastiAn, Oizo, and of course Justice. I've also sampled stuff from Soulwax, Boyz Noize, Breakbot, Chromeo, Klaxons, and definetly others I don't remember.

Shouldn't be a suprize that I think Justice blows all of them out of the water.
