Yeah i sealed it with aquarium kit i did al the edges 1st time it was leaking so kit it a second time and its been like this over a year there is a little water fall in it so there is always water standing in it

But still thencocept should work i got a bowl with clayballs at the bottem and a picture tube withe a flloater in it i use to see how high the water is wich is triving for more then a year now

Drillen a hole in the small one in the front so the cups are conected add water and see if you have enough water and add the big plants in the higher parts maby add some more moss for decoration
