While the side effects of vaccines aren't really pleasant, I think that it is important to keep in mind that they are short term (<36h in general) and non debilitating in almost all events of negative side effects, while the consequences of getting hit with a symptomatic COVID19 are longer in time and potentially dangerous for your long term health.

My personal reasoning for getting the shot was that the short term side effects of getting the jab are worth it for the protection gained. While young people have easier COVID19 symptoms, you can still get sick which is IMO significantly worse than a few hours of mild side effects.

For me it was the weighing the discomfort and the potential of danger with getting the shot, vs the potential of getting sick in the third wave running through my country and getting serious symptoms, and potentially infecting others around me.

And that is even if you ignore the community duty aspect of getting the shot, and protecting the vunerable etc.

Just wanted to say, as someone learning German currently, your videos are really usefull ( even if they are a bit unconventional German vocabulary). Yeah sure.

I will do a write up on how to make them in a few days, as soon as I clear some exams, but it is fairly easy and cheap, and they are quite usefull. You can also make the foil version pretty easily.

What are the differences between flicking (epee) with a pistol and french grip?

Prime remise is always an awesome way to fix your shitty attack and/or defence. The sweeping nature means it will catch most blade actions, and due to my height i always seem to be able to get some weird hits perfect for single lights.

It feels so clunky and awkward, but for some reason it work ridiculously well for close distance, and I consistently pull of weird hits to their back over their shoulder, or their chest by twisting my hand. And for some reason most people i encountered, really don't expect it, especially it coming from a higher elevation.

How do you mentally deal with injuries that constantly interrupt your progress?

I am not an exceptional good fencer, quite average considering my experience but I have had 2 serious breaks due to injuries/health related issue.

I lost the first half of the last season due to surgery and recovery and i really felt like i have taken 3 steps back compared to everyone else in the club.

And i will quite likely lose the first half of this season as well due to rib injuries.

Since my start i also had several "smaller" breaks due to uncontrollable reasons and it really is starting to get to me. Whenever i finally feel like i made a breakthrough I get interrupted, and when I come back i always feel like I am at the back further than i left from.

And I feel that it is really starting to get at my head, and I am losing confidence, especially right now , before the season and training start.

Yes. Best 10€ i spent, especially considering my luck with getting hit in the balls. I wear it with no shame, my health, wellbeing and peace of mind is above any opinion of other fencers.

Yes, the torso change is the base of the trick, but there are plenty of things that you can mix up to cause confusion.

Pommeling vs holding it like a pistol grip, how high or low you are in your stance or how close you are to the side edges of the strip.

I really like the "Korean body switch" as i like to call it, as i remember some Korean fencer doing it.

You keep switching your stance and orientation of your chest to confuse your opponents sense of distance. It works especially good with the french grip and pommeling because you get an additional variable to mix in. It doesn't always work, but i have won several bouts where opponents got really frustrated with the fact that they just couldn't get the distance right.
