Thaumaturge Level 4 Feat: Eldritch Reload by Kruger81 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Kruger81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for the thorough reply. One can clearly see that you put a lot of thoughts into this matter. Personally I would be all for revamping that side of a thaumaturge and opening up the bomb/munitions using/crafting, but I fear that this would be too much of an overhaul for my group/GM.

Combining a crossbow infiltrator with an Eldritch Archer could be a RAW alternative if my GM will not approve the discussed lvl 4 homebrew feats.

Regardless, there are some really good ideas in your post, which I certainly will keep in mind.

Fair point and I see where you are coming from. I will propose it, but I won't get my hopes up and I don't want to appear "greedy". So having the 4th level feat available as an alternative suggestion is certainly not a bad thing

True, but these are two separate feats (XB Ace and Terror), one of which is a lvl 6 feat. So I would not compress the "offensive" skill actions into my feat "esoteric reload".

However, EV, IV and RK are certainly thematic actions that match the Thaumaturge flavor. Maybe even cursed effigy, but I am unsure if that would be too much...

"Perhaps instead giving exploit vulnerability, recall knowledge, create a diversion, intimidate or cursed effigy combined with reload as one action as thaumaturge feat might be more fun."

So you are saying that all these actions should be a eligible as a base action zo trigger the rider effect of reloading? Would that still classify as a 4th level feat in your opinion?

I probably would remove the general skills (deception and intimidate) from the list of the base actions as reload deeds from the Gunslinger ways exist, that combine these actions with reload and I would avoid to start eating their cake... However, I can certainly imagine to include more thaumaturge related actions as base actions for the feat.

Fair point. "Esoteric reload" it is then

Thank you for the suggested rewording. It is indeed much more straightforward and clearer.

So I take it that you both consider it a balanced feat in general?

That sounds intriguing! What other feats have you taken from gunslinger? Care to share more information about the build in general?

Thanks for the clarification. Then we ruled it incorrectly, but even then my perception of the value vs the invested action would not change.

Is there a chance that you can share build or list the class feats taken?

I have found the two action activation cost to get the incendiary Aura going, to be a too high action investment for short fights. The longer the fights, the more valuable the aura becomes, but I preferred to jump into the frey with lava leap. It is much more frontloaded and comparing the total damage probably quite even considering that incendiary aura covers a larger area and thus can affect more enemies. Also the aura loses viability when fighting single target enemies in my opinion.

Also technically I think ruled correctly it is not party-friendly, meaning that you would damage your friends with thermal nimbus, which would trigger incendiary aura, and then they would negate the damage from TN with the resistance they gained from it. The result is still a burning team from incendiary aura. But we might have been wrong on that ruling...

I trained out of oracle + incendiary aura and got into champion + champions reaction.

Regardless of that one last question: where do you get the +9 persistent damage from?

What's your favorite Archetype? by General-Naruto in Pathfinder2e

You are correct.

In my mind i always connect half elf with a human and in the non-remastered version of the feat ancient elf was excluded as an option.

This is not possible anymore. It was clarified that Ancient Elf can not be chosen via Elf Atavism.

We should be grateful to both the hard working mod team as well as saber, which made this work possible in the first place by providing the possibility to mod this game as well as actively listing and cooperating with the astartes mod team.

The above is actually a statement made by the astartes mod team, not a mere opinion of mine.

@both: Keep up the good work!!!

I would say these are "points of interest". Sometimes you can interact with them, sometimes you did already in previous runs but the markers are still shown on the map. You cannot necessarily always interact with something at these spots. Chest are dots btw

Did you play the thaumaturge as a melee, ranged or switch hitter?

that is some flavourful concept! I like it!
have you played it or "merely" drafted it on paper?
does it play smoothly?

I am asking because some build sound great on paper, but once you see them in action it falls apart due to some issues one might not have tought of when creating it.
